When Prince Charles married Diana Spencer on July 29, 1981, more than 750 million people watched the royal wedding live on television. To that point, it was the most popular event ever broadcast. It was a fairy-tale romance on display for the whole world to see. At the time, Herbert W. Armstrong wrote an article titled “Britain’s Last Gasp of Joy and Splendor.” That controversial wedding in 1981 was like the beginning of the end for the royal family and the whole of Britain.
