Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles and German counterpart Boris Pistorius signed a memorandum of understanding in Canberra, Australia, yesterday for a global early-warning system for space. “In space, China and Russia are our immediate neighbors. They have expanded their offensive capabilities in space. They can jam, blind or destroy satellites,” Pistorius said. “We need to know what’s happening up there. That’s the only way we can protect our own systems.” On his trip, Pistorius visited the defense contractor eos, which is in early production of its Apollo laser system that can shoot down up to 30 drones per minute and is developing an Atlas high-power laser for blinding or destroying satellites. The two countries also agreed to reduce restrictions on exchanges of military personnel. While Australia sees Germany as a partner against Russia and China, Bible prophecy warns that Germany will betray Australia and the other English-speaking nations.
Catholic churches are experiencing major spikes in attendance, the New York Times reported yesterday. For instance, this Easter, the archdiocese of Detroit expects to add 1,428 new members, a 20-year high; the archdiocese of Washington, D.C., expects to add 1,755 members, a 16-year high; the Galveston-Houston archdiocese expects a 15-year high, and Des Moines’s diocese attendance has already increased 51 percent. Expect Catholicism to become increasingly popular, as is prophesied in your Bible.
Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping believes U.S. President Donald Trump’s ambivalence toward Taiwan “opens a historic opportunity for China,” the Wall Street Journal wrote Wednesday. The Chinese Communist Party has never ruled the island republic, yet it considers it a rogue territory that must be brought under Communist control, by force if necessary. Taiwan has stayed independent for decades thanks to American military equipment, political support and a strong implication of protection in the event of invasion. But President Trump sees Taiwan “more transactionally” than his predecessors in the White House, the Journal wrote, making his commitment to the island “uncertain.” The strongest evidence of this came after a February 4 phone call between Xi and Trump when the latter paused a $13 billion arms sale to Taiwan, apparently to safeguard a trade truce with China. The two are set to meet in Beijing in May. For decades, the Trumpet has warned that America’s lack of resolve will be the main factor enabling the Chinese Communist Party to seize Taiwan.
Russia has increased military aid and intelligence sharing with Iran, strengthening the regime’s ability to target and attack American and Israeli forces, the Telegraph reported Thursday. Russia has supplied Iran with upgraded components for Shahed drones designed to improve their navigation, communication and lethality, with greater resilience against jamming, control through local telecommunications networks enabling operators to alter strike paths in the final phase, and the capability of striking with thermobaric and incendiary munitions. Drawing on its extensive use of Shaheds in Ukraine, Russia has also advised Iran on optimal flight profiles and strike mass. The report also confirms earlier intelligence showing that Russia is providing satellite imagery to Iran to enable precision targeting of high-value U.S. and Israeli assets in the region. This will increase Iran’s capacity to absorb prolonged strikes while exerting disproportionate force beyond U.S. and Israeli expectations and potentially beyond the limits of public tolerance. The Trumpet maintains that, whether due to Russian help or a broader array of factors, the current war will not neutralize the Iranian threat.

This marks a major change in Lebanese politics. For decades, Iran has largely ruled Lebanon through the terrorist organization Hezbollah. Hezbollah labeled the Foreign Ministry’s decision a “sin.” Soon after the announcement, Iran launched a missile into Lebanese airspace (which was intercepted). Hezbollah’s political entrenchment in Lebanese politics and physical entrenchment in Lebanon’s south are weakening. Successful Israeli campaigns over the past few years, including the current Iran war, have weakened Hezbollah and thereby Iran’s influence. Neither the center-left Social Democrats and its left-wing bloc nor any other alliance has a majority, which means that, once again, another European democracy could struggle to form a coalition and suffer political paralysis.

Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case challenging a Mississippi law that allows election officials to count mail-in ballots that are postmarked by Election Day but arrive up to five business days later. The Republican National Committee, the Mississippi Republican Party and others argue that this grace period violates federal law. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit agreed, ruling that ballots must be received by Election Day to be counted. A concurrence by the Supreme Court could invalidate such election laws in 14 total states plus the District of Columbia.
The world’s most-used herbicide can encourage the growth and spread of bacteria resistant to medical treatments, according to a new study published in Frontiers in Microbiology. The evidence cited indicates that exposure to glyphosate kills weaker strains but allows stronger strains to thrive and potentially become ingested by humans through contaminated food and water. They can make common infections more difficult to treat and increase the risk of serious illnesses.
The Social Democratic Party of Germany lost yesterday’s state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate, a state it held for 35 years. The party lost 9.8 percentage points compared to the last elections five years ago, finishing with only 25.9 percent of the vote, 5 percent behind the Christian Democratic Union and just 6 percent ahead of the far-right Alternative für Deutschland, which more than doubled its vote share. The Social Democrats also lost the mayoralty of the Bavarian capital, Munich, having held it almost continuously for 78 years, to the Green Party’s Dominik Krause, the city’s first openly homosexual mayor. The Social Democrats’ losses put pressure on the national government, which is led by the Christian Democrats and Social Democrats. This is a harbinger of the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, which says Germany will return to autocratic rule.
Somalia’s South-West state severed ties with the national government on Tuesday, accusing it of attempting to unseat its state president and unfairly use the Constitution to increase federal power. The states of Puntland and Jubaland have broken from the national government as well, and Somaliland rejects it entirely and has declared itself an independent state. These divisions allow the Islamist terrorist group al-Shabaab to operate more freely. Al-Shabaab and other Islamists taking advantage of the situation and dominating Somalia could lead directly to fulfilling a specific Bible prophecy.
On Wednesday, President Idris Mahamat Déby ordered the Chadian military to totally close the Sudanese border, remain on high alert, and retaliate against any attacks coming from Sudan. Local sources reported the deployment of over 200 military vehicles to the border city of Tiné. The order came after a drone attack on Tiné earlier that day, which killed 17 people and injured 123 civilians attending a funeral. Though the exact motive is unknown, the attack is likely the result of Sudan’s civil war, in which rival factions have battled over the city of Tina, across the border from Tiné, for months. Chad receives financial support from the United Arab Emirates in return for helping supply Sudan’s rebels, but it is much closer to the Sudanese government ethnically. Because of this, both the Sudanese government and the rebels have attacked Chad, and now Déby has made his strongest move yet in reaction. Watch for worsening tensions along this border to contribute to a geopolitical prophecy found in the Psalms.
Four ambulances owned by Hatzola Northwest, a Jewish charity that provides free emergency health care to ease the burden of the National Health Service, were firebombed in an apparent terror attack Monday morning. Security cameras captured three suspects setting fire to the vehicles. The Telegraph reports that British police are investigating the attack as being coordinated by Iran. If confirmed, this demonstrates Iran’s long reach—and determination—to attack innocent, uninvolved Jewish communities around the world. Iran’s many state and nonstate attacks on civilians remind the world just how evil this generation’s worst terror-sponsoring regime is.
Yesterday, Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the U.S. had expanded its operations against Iran’s ability to conduct terrorist strikes on civilian ships in the Strait of Hormuz, using low-flying warplanes and Apache attack helicopters for more precise strikes. “We continue to hunt and destroy naval assets, including over 120 vessels and 44 minelayers,” General Caine told reporters. The U.S. is also reportedly deploying two light aircraft carriers with roughly 4,400 marines to the area to reinforce the large carrier strike group already in place and to escalate the effort to reopen the trade route. However, a Bible prophecy in Daniel 11:40 indicates that the U.S. will soon pull out of the conflict and Europe will be drawn into it.
Iran struck a Saudi oil refinery and launched eight ballistic missiles toward the capital, Riyadh, yesterday, while several regional diplomats were visiting. This came a day after its major attack on Qatar’s massive Ras Laffan natural gas facilities, which was largely intercepted and yet succeeded in causing damage that the Qataris say will take five years to repair. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud said that if Iran continues to target economic resources, “we have reserved the right to take military actions if deemed necessary.” With each passing day, Iran’s ability and willingness to use military-scale weapons on civilian energy infrastructure and shipping in nonbelligerent countries becomes an increasingly crucial factor.
Majid Nili, Iran’s ambassador to Germany, wants Germany to clarify whether America used Ramstein Air Base in Germany for strikes against Iran, Agence France-Presse reported on Thursday. The ambassador claims use of the base against Iran violates United Nations Resolution 3314, but German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius rejects that claim. Nili also called on Germany to ask America to end its strikes. Germany is no ally of Iran, and according to Bible prophecy it will soon come against Iran “like a whirlwind” and destroy Iran-led radical Islam.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s White House visit yesterday became a higher-stakes situation after the U.S. attack on Iran and calls on Japan and other allies to help protect the Strait of Hormuz. Those nations initially declined, but shortly before the meeting, Japan signed a joint statement with Britain, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands pledging to “contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the strait.” Between this decision, Takaichi’s warm demeanor and words toward President Trump, and Japan moving forward with a $550 billion deal for crude oil, natural gas and nuclear energy, the visit further tightened U.S.-Japan relations. However, the Trumpet forecasts that this alliance will ultimately fracture, with Japan pivoting toward China and away from the United States.
