The Times of the Gentiles (2022)
By Gerald Flurry • December 31, 2021
We are entering what the Bible calls the times of the Gentiles. This is the edge of the storm preceding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Gentiles are non-Israelites. Israel is comprised of the descendants of the 12 tribes of ancient Israel. Prophetic Israel in this end time is specifically the birthright nations, America and Britain, and the scepter nation, Judah (the Jewish nation in the Middle East). The scepter nation provides the kings who rule from David’s throne. Soon, all people will become spiritual Israel. (To learn more, request our free book The United States and Britain in Prophecy.)
Israel desperately needs to know how to deal with the Gentiles. It obviously has no idea. Clashes between the Gentiles and Israel, and the Gentiles and other Gentiles, will culminate in the Second Coming. Christ will destroy those Gentile armies when they try to fight Him.
There are a lot of Gentile nations, but the two major powers will be a German-led Europe and a Russia-China alliance.
Notice this warning in Matthew 24: “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes” (verses 15-18).
Christ is saying that when this warning comes, don’t even go back to your house. Just get out of there! Is that urgent? God will protect His people, but we must have the faith to believe and act urgently when we hear the call. Those who deliver the warning message to the world before Christ’s return will go to a place of protection and become His Bride for all eternity. What an amazing reward!
The abomination of desolation is a European army surrounding Jerusalem: “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh” (Luke 21:20). Don’t forget about Germany. They are getting more powerful all the time.
“For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled” (verse 22). Ninety percent of all Bible prophecy is for this end time. All of it will be fulfilled. That is urgent, even if we don’t see it. But just look around at the events in this world. Look at history, and you will see.
“And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled” (verse 24). The times of the Gentiles will be fulfilled, or over, when Christ returns.
“Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken” (Luke 21:26). The abomination of desolation will shake not just the Middle East but the entire world! It will be a fearful sight (verse 11).
“And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory” (Luke 21:27). The real power is Jesus Christ. When these Gentile armies attack Him, it will result in a river of blood up to the horses’ bridles for 200 miles (Revelation 14:20). Diplomacy doesn’t work with these people. He will speak to them in the only language they understand.
My free booklet The Prophesied ‘Prince of Russia’ was translated into Russian and posted online by the Russian Internet project inoSMI several years ago. The booklet received hundreds of comments. God’s warning message is getting out there. This prince of Russia, Vladimir Putin, will lead an unprecedented 200 million-man army from Asian nations. Your Bible says so. This is why the world will witness bloodshed like never before when Gentile armies clash with Christ.
Russia possesses a nuclear bomb that can obliterate a territory the size of Texas. This is something to think about.
What is the goal of a Gentile nation like China? Its dictator plans to rule for the rest of his life. He has a massive stockpile of nukes and a formidable shipping industry. He has virtually taken over the South China Sea, including islands belonging to Japan and the Philippines. China just keeps gobbling up territory and sea gates that control worldwide trade. The South China Sea sees $5 trillion in goods flow through each year. This ought to raise alarm in us. Where is it leading? What does it mean? (Study “Who Is Chittim?” to learn what your Bible warns about the rise of China.)
America and Britain once possessed the world’s sea gates but gave them up. Why do all the Gentile nations treat sea gates and other assets so differently than prophetic Israel? We are softening our view on China today, according to many critics. Nobody is stopping it from aggressively seizing parts of our world. Disasters like Afghanistan encourage Gentile nations to be even more aggressive.
The Prophet Daniel described four world-ruling empires that act like violent, vicious beasts. We need to be aware of this. Gentile nations want to rule the world!
Prophetic Israel Betrayed
Isaiah 23 tells of a “mart of nations” (verse 3). Gentile nations will form a trading alliance against prophetic Israel—especially America, Britain and the Jewish state. They view the Israelite nations as their greatest enemy! They will besiege Israel if we don’t wake up and listen to God’s warning, repent of our sins, and receive God’s protection.
How well do we know God today? Prophecies are being fulfilled before our eyes, so there’s no excuse for not believing in God.
Besieging America in world trade is something to be fearful of! If you control world trade, you control the world. Russia is going after Ukraine to take over a sea gate there. These fierce beasts are roaming the Earth. It has been this way in history; this is not something new. When evil men take charge of Gentile nations, these nations become like ferocious beasts!
Before World War ii, Adolf Hitler negotiated peace with British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain to keep getting land concessions, and he always broke his promises. These men are like beasts!
A good diplomat will never win over the minds of the Gentiles. Ezekiel 23 shows that our German “lovers” in this end time will betray us. We need God’s help. That’s the only solution.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu listed the three biggest problems in the world today: Iran, Iran, and Iran. It is out to destroy the Jewish nation. Its leaders declare publicly their desire to wipe Judah off the Earth, and they are about to get nuclear bombs! Such problems are far too great for men to solve.
Anciently, Assyrian King Sennacherib conquered most of Judah and surrounded Jerusalem. (The Assyrians are the ancestors of the Germans.) He said he had Jerusalem trapped like a bird in a cage. But Jewish King Hezekiah appealed to God. He pleaded with God to save Jerusalem and did all he could to obey God. In one night, God slaughtered 185,000 Assyrian soldiers outside Jerusalem as they slept. This is provable from both the Bible and history.
Miraculous history like this is recorded in the Bible for our benefit: “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come” (1 Corinthians 10:11). Learn from Bible history! We will be protected if we look to God; we will never be protected if we look to ourselves.
How to Escape
“And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings” (Revelation 10:11). After Herbert W. Armstrong died in 1986, rebels took over God’s Church and trashed the major doctrines that he established. The minor doctrines too. God commands us to prophesy again—the way Mr. Armstrong did. He sent the gospel around the world with all the power you could imagine (Matthew 24:14).
Notice Revelation 11:1: “And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.” God’s loyal people allow Him to measure them. We go right back to what we were taught.
“But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months” (verse 2). Ninety-five percent of God’s people refuse to be measured. The times of the Gentiles include the 3½-year Great Tribulation and Day of the Lord. God’s rebellious people will be trampled.
What happens next? “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever” (verse 15). The times of the Gentiles lead directly to the reign of God forever and ever! This is the message of God, not of man! Prophecy is the proof of God. He gives us wonderful, wonderful truth.
“And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled” (Luke 21:27-32). At the time when Christ’s prophecy here is fully understood, God’s Kingdom is near! Look at prophecy with an open mind. Anyone should be able to see prophecy being fulfilled today.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (verses 33-36). God tells us how to stop all this madness. We must become worthy to stand before Christ. Watch world events, prove that prophecy is being fulfilled, and pray. Stay spiritually diligent!
God will protect anyone who obeys Him, individually or collectively (Revelation 12:12-16). It’s up to us. Take heed and repent.Read More
