NOAA Exaggerates Global Warming
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (noaa) is reporting that last year was the hottest single year ever recorded. On January 12, Dr. Sarah Kapnick confirmed:
Not only was 2023 the warmest year in noaa’s 174-year climate record—it was the warmest by far. A warming planet means we need to be prepared for the impacts of climate change that are happening here and now, like extreme weather events that become both more frequent and severe.
noaa is recommending that governments take drastic action to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Yet other scientists are exposing how noaa’s data has been falsified.
Faulty data: noaa’s official website reports that “Earth’s temperature has risen by an average of 0.11 degrees Fahrenheit (0.06 degrees Celsius) per decade since 1850, or about 2 degrees Fahrenheit in total. The rate of warming since 1982 is more than three times as fast: 0.36 degrees Fahrenheit (0.2 degrees Celsius) per decade.”
Yet Anthony Watts, senior fellow for environment and climate at the Heartland Institute, has found that 96 percent of noaa’s temperature monitoring stations have a heat bias that is skewing data toward warmer temperatures.
noaa standards require all climate observation stations to be located at least 100 feet away from elements that absorb heat, such as concrete, asphalt and buildings. Yet in a July 2022 paper, Watts showed that 96 percent of noaa’s stations are located within 100 feet of those elements. So the 0.36-degree Fahrenheit increase per decade figure noaa is reporting is primarily due to urban sprawl.
Realistic picture: To get a more accurate picture of Earth’s changing temperature, John Christy, a professor of atmospheric science at the University of Alabama, developed a global temperature set from microwave data collected by satellites.
His data shows that Earth’s temperate has increased by 0.14 degrees Fahrenheit (0.08 degrees Celsius) per decade since 1979. That figure is less than half of what noaa’s temperature monitoring stations are reporting.
So while global temperatures probably have been increasing since the end of the Little Ice Age in 1850, the rate of increase has been exaggerated.
Fake world: What you see in the news isn’t an open, may-the-best-facts-win scientific debate. It is the result of politically motivated manipulation designed to frighten people into surrendering their God-endowed rights to a central planning committee.
In 2017, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote, “The weaker America is, the more vulnerable it becomes to being controlled. That is exactly what the radical left wants. It is using the issue of the environment to get it. The Obama administration didn’t want to get climate change under control; it wanted to get America under its control! Proponents of deals like this want to control the world.”
