Trump Declares Golan Heights Belongs to Israel

United States President Donald Trump on Monday officially endorsed Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

The unilateral declaration breaks with decades of U.S. precedent, which sought to preserve the status quo, whereby the territory that Israel won from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War was currently occupied by Israel, pending a final settlement to be agreed upon by the two nations.

According to Mr. Trump, antiquated maxims such as “preserving the status quo” and “observing past precedent” carry no weight in the present, especially in the long-stagnant search of Middle East peace.

Thus, after 52 years of Israeli control of the strategic strip of land overlooking the Sea of Galilee, and almost 40 years since Israel’s de facto annexation of the land, it’s time to acknowledge reality: The Golan Heights is part of Israel.

Gaza Rocket Hits House North of Tel Aviv

Early Monday morning, a rocket flew nearly over 68 miles (110 kilometers) before hitting a house in the town of Mishmeret. Thankfully, no one was killed in the attack.

Later that night, 60 rockets were fired at Israel; Israel responded.

According to the Israel Hayom, a senior Hamas official said Iran ordered the attack. This was confirmed by Egyptian mediators. It speaks to Iran’s growing hold over Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad inside the Gaza Strip, something we at the Trumpet have drawn attention to for more than a decade.
