This Week: Five Events You Need to Know (May 19)

Jerusalem Embassy move, Iranian-sponsored terrorists in the Middle East and Latin America, and more

Here are five of the most important news stories this week, as well as relevant links to the full articles and videos here on theTrumpet.com.

The Vital Perspective on the Jerusalem Embassy Move

The United States officially moved its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on May 14, the 70th anniversary of Israel’s independence. Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama each promised to make this move, but President Donald Trump is the one who followed through.

The alliance between Israel and the United States is stronger now than it has ever been. However, Bible prophecy shows that this is only a temporary resurgence.

Israeli Intelligence: Iran Is Funding Hamas’s March of Return

Israeli security agency Shin Bet reported on May 14 that Iran has been sponsoring the massive Hamas-led violent protests on the Gaza border. Shin Bet’s report, released just hours before 50,000 Palestinians amassed at the Gaza border, said, “[I]t appears Hamas is encouraging and sending protesters to the border fence in order to carry out violent acts and damage security infrastructure. In addition, it was found that Iran is providing funding to Hamas in order for it to carry out these violent activities along the Gaza Strip’s border fence.”

As we have long reported at the Trumpet, Hamas forms a vital part of Iran’s strategy to surround Israel.”

Iran-Backed Terrorists Infiltrate Latin America

According to a report published May 15, Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah is laundering money in the Tri-Border Area of Latin America. Such illicit activities in the region straddling the intersection of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay have long been a source of concern for United States security officials. Trends indicate that the problem is about to get worse.

Why Does the Catholic Church Organize Europe’s Largest Nazi Rally?

The Croatian Bishops’ Conference of the Catholic Church recently organized a gathering of around 10,000 people in a field near the town of Bleiburg in southern Austria for what the Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance called the “largest regular neo-Nazi rally” in Europe. Hitler salutes, racist flags and slogans were common. Kids ran around with fascist slogans on their T-shirts. Featured guests gave speeches defending fascism. Efraim Zuroff, the East European Affairs director for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, called the event “an affront to the memory of Holocaust victims.”

Why the Catholic Church organized a neo-Nazi rally is a question history and Bible prophecy answer in painfully vivid detail.

19 Lava Outbreaks, Toxic Gases, and Hawaii’s Volcano Emergency Is Far From Over

“The situation around Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano is growing more serious by the hour,” cbs’s David Begnaud wrote on May 15. “[E]very day has gotten worse,” Big Island resident Steve Gebbie told cnn.

The volcano has been erupting since May 3, releasing slow-moving lava into residential areas and toxic gas into the air. The flows are setting jungles ablaze and covering highways with quickly cementing rock more than 10 feet thick. It has destroyed three dozen homes and other buildings on Hawaii’s Big Island.

“[A]ll these crazy natural happenings coming at the same time make a fascinating coincidence,” cnn wrote on May 15.

What does the Bible say about these happenings?
