One-Year Anniversary of Trump Assassination Attempt, U.S. Trade War With Europe Escalates, France Increases Military Spending

President Trump will send Patriot missiles to Ukraine with the EU footing the bill. This is being taken as a signal that Trump is turning against Putin. But China recently gave Europe a major warning over Ukraine—indicating that the more Europe gets involved, the more China will back Russia. Our main story has more on this important prophesied development.

“God alone saved me that day for a righteous purpose,” President Trump said in a press release on the one-year anniversary of the day he nearly died in Bulter, Pennsylvania. He believes he was saved “to restore our beloved republic to greatness and to rescue our nation from those who seek its ruin.”

He also paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, who “when the gunfire erupted … did not hesitate to protect his wife and two daughters.”

In his Inaugural Address, President Trump said: “I was saved by God to make America great again.”

“Trumpet readers know this is exactly what the Bible prophesied,” wrote Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry at the time. “God saw the bitter affliction of America and the other end-time nations of Israel (2 Kings 14:26-28) and decided to save us—temporarily—by the hand of a modern King Jeroboam II: Donald J. Trump. Even through the darkest days of Trump’s political wilderness years, I showed you how God prophesied that He would bring him back to lead a national resurgence. (Read ‘Why I Still Believe Donald Trump Is Coming Back.’) …

“The big question you must ask yourself is why. We must look beyond the surface, and beware the serious mistake of glorifying Donald Trump rather than God. Is God blessing America for its righteousness? Or is there another reason? What does God expect from us?” His article answers that question.

Meanwhile President Trump escalated his trade war with Europe, sending a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Friday informing her that the EU would face tariffs of at least 30 percent starting on August 1. This is substantially higher than the tariff levels Trump unveiled earlier; the EU had hoped it would retain its current tariff rate of 10 percent.

The only reason Europe is not freaking out right now is that it believes “Trump Always Chickens Out” (taco). But they could be in a tough position. The European Commission doesn’t have the authority to negotiate over most of the things President Trump wants—many are in the purview of individual nations.

It will also be hard for the EU to strike back, given how dependent European nations are on the U.S. But they will end this dependency.

The “giants of Asia” will form a “brief alliance” with Europe, Mr. Flurry writes in his book Isaiah’s End Time Vision. “Should Europe, the resurrected Holy Roman Empire, find a way to take advantage—even for a moment—of key resources and strategic holdings of China, Russia and Japan, it would have more than enough power to besiege the Anglo-Saxon nations and enslave them.” President Trump’s tariffs are prompting these other nations to conspire against America. France will spend billions more on its military, President Emmanuel Macron announced yesterday. Its annual defense budget will rise by €6.5 billion to reach €64 billion (us$75 billion) by 2027. However, that will still be far short of Germany’s current defense budget of €86 billion—ensuring that Germany retains Europe’s military leadership.

“To be free in this world, we must be feared,” said Macron. “To be feared, we must be powerful.”

It’s not yet clear how France will pay for the increase, given that it has just about maxed out its spending and risks collapsing the government if it makes cuts anywhere else. Mr. Macron said that Prime Minister Francois Bayrou would announce the details on Tuesday.

This is the latest step in Europe’s military transformation, and it goes hand in hand with the tariffs story. The fact that European nations rely on America for their defense means they can only go so far in their retaliation against President Trump’s tariffs. If they push Trump too much, he could withdraw their defense. They know it, and they hate it. So they’re working to become independent of America. Our article “Up in Arms” shows where this is leading.

IN OTHER NEWS

Germany’s coalition is arguing over a vote to confirm a new judge in the Constitutional Court on Friday. Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s conservatives withdrew support for a candidate backed by the Social Democrats, the junior partner in government. While the judge’s left-leaning views are well known, the opposition of some conservative M.P.s has been underestimated, leaving the coalition at risk of collapse. Mr. Flurry explained in “Europe Needs Someone Greater Than a German Chancellor” how crises such as this one will lead Europe to look to a new, more powerful, undemocratic leadership.

Russia aims to bring 1 million Indian workers into the nation by year’s end to help navigate intensifying labor shortages, said Andrei Besedin, head of Russia’s Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in a July 9 interview. We mentioned this in one of last week’s e-mails, but Jeremiah Jacques has more details on the story in our In Brief today.

Isaiah’s End-Time Vision
Isaiah had a prophecy for the end time that was twofold. He delivered his message to the temple priests and to the people of Israel. Did you know that most of Isaiah’s temple prophecies are also addressed to God’s own Laodicean Church in the end time? The Laodiceans’ rebellion revolves around God’s government. They don’t want God to rule them. Isaiah has a powerful vision for the Laodiceans, the nations of Israel—and even the whole world. You won’t find a more inspiring, far-reaching vision in all the Bible. It pictures a beautiful and peaceful Earth. The vision reaches out into the universe. This prophet also reveals how Satan successfully destroys that vision for many of God’s own people. Those who overcome Satan’s deception will be the most honored people ever on this Earth. They will become the Bride of Christ!
