China Secures Control of New Rare Earth Mines in Myanmar

A China-backed militia has gained control over new rare earth mines in eastern Myanmar, according to four people familiar with the matter, Reuters reported Thursday.

China has a stranglehold on mining and processing rare earth minerals, accounting for 90 percent of the world’s processed supplies. These elements are critical for numerous electronic devices, from smartphones and wind turbines to military technology.

Expansion: China is reaching beyond its borders to further expand its monopoly on these essential elements and secure leverage against the United States in their escalating trade war.

As the U.S. pulls back from the region, China is stepping in and asserting greater control over several smaller Asian nations. Now China and Russia are working to prop up Myanmar’s military dictatorship.

Weaponized: China demonstrated its willingness to weaponize its monopoly on these minerals in April, putting export restrictions on various rare earth minerals as part of its retaliation against U.S. tariffs.

The Bible prophesies of a coming trade war that will escalate into an economic siege against the United States. As China’s dominance over neighboring Asian nations grows along with its control over vital resources, the threat it poses to a China-dependent America increases.
