Poll: Many Distrust Democracy
Voters around the world are losing faith in democracy, a poll by the International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Assistance showed on Thursday.
The poll surveyed about 1,500 people in each of the 19 countries studied (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, The Gambia, India, Iraq, Italy, Lebanon, Lithuania, Pakistan, Romania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, the Solomon Islands, South Korea, the United States, Taiwan and Tanzania).
- In 11 of the countries (including India, Taiwan and the U.S.), most believed their most recent election was not free and fair.
- Only 47 percent in the U.S. believe their country has credible electoral processes.
- In eight of the countries, the majority favored “a strong leader who doesn’t have to bother with parliament or elections.”
Time of the Gentiles: The Bible prophesies of a dark time when freedom is taken away, dictators rule, and humans are taken captive and sold as slaves. These dictatorial rulers will bring about the darkest time Earth has ever known.
