Xi Jinping: China’s Genocide Against Uyghurs Has Not Been Harsh Enough

Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping finally responded to international criticism of his genocidal policies against the Uyghur Muslims in the Xinjiang region of China. But it was not the answer critics had hoped for. Xi visited the region on August 26, and rather than apologize or announce a softening of his approach, he vowed to double down on the ruthless and dehumanizing policies.

“[We] have to combine the anti-terrorism and anti-secessionist struggle with the legalized and regularized efforts for stability maintenance,” he said. “The sinification of Islam should be deepened in order to effectively handle all sorts of illegal religious activities. We will build a beautiful Xinjiang that is united and harmonious, wealthy and prosperous.”

The overwhelming majority of Uyghurs have longed to be an independent nation for decades. But the Chinese Communist Party has controlled the area since shortly after fighting its way into power in 1949, and it has refused to give the Uyghurs independence.

Beginning in 2008, Chinese authorities claimed that Uyghurs were committing terrorist attacks with knives, killing hundreds of Han Chinese people. Salih Hudayar, a Uyghur who fled Xinjiang in the late 1990s, told the Trumpet that the evidence shows these were actually false flag attacks committed by ccp operatives because “China needed to portray the Uyghurs as terrorists.”

Regardless of who carried out the atrocities, or whether they happened at all, the ccp used them as justification to deploy hundreds of thousands of troops and security agents to Xinjiang. And they transformed the region into something horrifying.

The ‘Sinification of Islam’

By 2016, Xinjiang was one of the most strictly controlled surveillance states in the world, with hundreds of thousands of security checkpoints and ubiquitous cameras.

In 2018, the ccp went a step further, dispatching more than a million government agents to live in the homes of Uyghurs. “The official narrative,” Hudayar said, is that this policy will “build bonds and promote ethnic unity” and “loyalty to the state.” But the overwhelming majority of the Chinese officials sent to Uyghur homes are ethnically Han men, and the homes they are sent to are those where the man of the house—the ethnically Uyghur man—has been detained by the ccp. Video evidence shows that many of these male officials sleep in the same bed as the wives or daughters of the imprisoned Uyghur men, Hudayar said. He has collected numerous testimonies from Uyghur women who say these government agents have raped them repeatedly. “Tens of thousands of Uyghur women have been forcibly married to the Chinese men,” Hudayar said.

The ccp also built hundreds of facilities it euphemistically calls “vocational training facilities.” In reality, they are concentration camps where Chinese agents use psychological and physical force to indoctrinate Uyghurs into denouncing their ethnic and religious identity and embracing the Chinese state. “There is no God in communism,” Hudayar said. Uyghur victims are “brainwashed to literally worship the Chinese state as the highest being.”

Among the methods used to accomplish this are starvation, forced sterilization and sexual violence, including rape. If a detainee resists indoctrination efforts, Chinese operatives label him as incorrigible and sentence him to death. Once they are killed, Hudayar says their organs are harvested and sold.

Most Uyghurs follow the Muslim practice of avoiding alcohol and pork and eating only foods approved under Islamic law, called halāl. This means the Uyghurs’ livers, kidneys, hearts and lungs are, in the eyes of Muslims, halāl. “Their organs, shamelessly, are sold to wealthy Muslims across the world, mostly in the Middle East, as halāl organs,” Hudayar said. Satellite imagery shows multiple crematorium facilities in or near the concentration camps.

Is this what Xi Jinping means by “the sinification of Islam”? Is this his idea of a “beautiful Xinjiang”?

The Sinification of the World

As tragic as the nightmare in Xinjiang is, the facts show it is only one part of the story. “[I]t is a very common thread of China trying to dominate more and more of the world,” Hudayar said. “First they invaded southern Mongolia, or what China calls Inner Mongolia. Then they invaded East Turkistan [Xinjiang]. Then a couple of months later, they invaded Tibet. Essentially, they’ve been doing the same policies of colonization, genocide and occupation in all three of these countries.”

ccp forces have brutally forced Mongolians, Uyghurs and Tibetans to surrender not only a large percentage of their incomes but also their families, their bodies and their minds to the Communist Party. Hong Kong can also be added to the list.

And this is only the start.

Xi Jinping’s maneuvering in regions around the world shows that his ambitions have no bounds. Campaigns are underway to build colonies in Asia, Africa and even Latin America. The ccp is using debt traps and buying off elites to gain power around the globe. It is establishing illegal “police stations” in numerous nations, including in the United States and Europe, to enforce its will far outside China’s borders. It is infiltrating institutions worldwide to steal what it wants and control all it can.

It is clear that the regime seeks to dye the planet ccp red. Its ruthless effort to fully subjugate the Uyhgurs is an indication of its plan for all mankind. “They want the world to bow down to China,” Hudayar said. “Their ultimate goal is essentially global domination.”

‘The Times of the Gentiles’

During His ministry on Earth, Jesus Christ discussed a brutal global era that would begin shortly before His return. Luke 21:24 records Him calling this era “the times of the Gentiles.”

In our new Trumpet issue, editor in chief Gerald Flurry explained the meaning of the term Gentile: “That means they did not descend from ancient Israel. The modern nations that originated from the 12 tribes of biblical Israel include the United States, Britain, the Jewish state of Israel and most of the English-speaking nations,” which “have historically been far less bloody and brutal than other nations.”

He identified the main Gentile powers on the scene today as a resurgent European empire, an Iran-led Islamist power and an Asian confederacy led by Russia and China. “Look at the nations today,” Mr. Flurry wrote. “You see great powers that have no misgivings about subverting, pillaging or destroying another nation when it suits them, simply because they want land or wealth.”

“Men never had the authority or even the capacity to rule over and control other men,” he wrote. “The beastly rule of Gentile empires is about to prove this reality in a terribly bloody and horrific way. … Many people are going to suffer and die terrible deaths as the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”

The transition from the time of American and British global dominance to the time of ruthless regimes such as the Chinese Communist Party dominating the world is sobering and alarming to see. But Mr. Flurry makes clear that there is a way to escape the misery that so many will suffer under wicked and beastly rulers. “God is reaching out!” he wrote. “He created man with a godly type mind. He wants us to use that mind and choose to submit to Him and His laws.”
