Twitter Files: FBI Helps Ukrainian Intelligence Agency Censor Journalists
Investigative journalist Aaron Maté released an eight-tweet thread on June 7 exposing how the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation helped the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine censor Twitter users, including journalists. According to Maté’s exposé, an fbi special agent sent Twitter a list of accounts to censor on behalf of Ukraine’s main intelligence agency.
The agent told Twitter that the accounts “are suspected by the sbu [Ukrainian secret service] in spreading fear and disinformation” and asked Twitter “to block these Twitter accounts and provide us with” their “user data.” The fbi list included Aaron Maté and several American, Canadian and Russian journalists.
FBI subsidiary: The fbi’s attempt to ban Twitter accounts at the request of Ukrainian intelligence is among the most overt requests for censorship revealed in the Twitter Files. Yet it is not the only request. On December 16, Matt Taibbi published more than 150 internal e-mails from Twitter showing that Twitter was basically a subsidiary of the fbi until Elon Musk bought the social media company.
While many liberals used to claim that Twitter could censor whomever it wished since it was a private company, the truth is that Twitter was acting as an agency of the U.S. government until recently. The fbi told Twitter what to censor, and Twitter censored it.
Shadow state: America’s government is evolving into an authoritarian technocracy run by bureaucrats, military leaders, intelligence agents, Wall Street financiers, media moguls and tech entrepreneurs. Radical Democrats and establishment Republicans have teamed up to censor free speech, rig elections, start endless wars, and ruin the reputation of anyone who tries to stop them.
The Bible says this loss of freedom is an affliction God allows to wake people up and show them how far they have strayed from America’s founding principles (2 Kings 14:26-28).
