Louisville Bank Employee Kills Five After Losing Job
Connor Sturgeon, 25, killed five people and injured nine others at Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday morning. Sturgeon, an employee at the bank since June 2021, had recently been informed that he was going to be fired, according to a law enforcement source familiar with the case.
Sturgeon used an AR-15-style rifle to gun down his colleagues while live-streaming the attack on Instagram. He also reportedly left a voicemail for a friend saying he was going to “kill everyone” at the bank and that he felt “suicidal.” He also left a note for his mother.
Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said he fired at the officers, at which point the police shot and killed Sturgeon. Of the nine people injured, two were police officers.
President Joe Biden blamed the massacre on gun control laws, a common talking point of the left.
Once again, our nation mourns after a senseless act of gun violence. Jill and I pray for the lives lost and impacted by today’s shooting. Too many Americans are paying for the price of inaction with their lives. When will Republicans in Congress act to protect our communities?
—Joe Biden
These mass shootings can’t be resolved unless the cause is identified and dealt with. Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry explained that cause in a 2007 Key of David program.
Human nature is the problem. God says it’s human nature that must be changed; that is the problem. It’s not getting rid of some guns. And even if you did that, if everybody were told to turn in their guns, the bad guys wouldn’t turn in theirs, would they? No, that presents quite a dilemma when you think about it.
