Farewell, Barack Obama

One prophetic age ends, and another begins

On a cool night in November 2008, Barack Obama stood tall behind a podium in Grant Park, Chicago. He was the first African-American to be elected president of the United States. Thousands waved American flags and chanted, “Yes we can!” anticipating every word of the president-elect. He proclaimed to the exuberant masses, “This is your victory!”

Euphoria and hope gripped the country. Many recognized the event as a historic moment, a possible turning point for America. President-elect Obama promised that much-needed change would come to the country. He continued:

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.I promise you, we as a people will get there.

After eight years of President Obama in the White House, where have we arrived as a nation? With Donald Trump having assumed the mantle of the presidency, it is a good moment to reflect upon Mr. Obama’s legacy. While most in the media are applauding the outgoing president, it is essential we understand how he has transformed America.

Mr. Obama shifted the American political spectrum to the radical left. His domestic policies sought to transform America according to his socialist vision. His authoritarian policies transformed the executive office into one that can legislate. Whether or not you agree with his policies, many of his greatest “achievements” were performed by circumventing Congress. Most of his policies on climate change, immigration and economic regulation were done without U.S. lawmakers’ consent.

The way President Obama expanded power has set precedents that have changed the office forever.

Many in the media have accused President Trump of being a real-life Manchurian candidate: someone planted by Russia to control the government. In reality, communism has been conquering the intellectual class of America for decades. The goal of the radical left is not to rebuild America but to dismantle it. Mr. Obama is a product of the radical left. (To learn more about the radical left and its influence on Mr. Obama’s education, read Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry’s booklet Great Again.)

Mr. Obama’s failures are apparent. Although he entered office with high ambitions, America is worse off now than it was eight years ago. America has been discredited globally, Russia dominates the Middle East and Eastern Europe and terrorism remains undefeated.

While President Obama inherited a very difficult situation in 2008, Mr. Trump inherits an almost impossible one today. American power may be irretrievable in many key strategic areas.

However, what is President Obama’s legacy? How should we remember him?

In 2009, Mr. Flurry wrote a booklet titled America Under Attack. It revealed that President Obama was a modern-day type of the ancient figure Antiochus Epiphanes, centering on the prophecy in Daniel 8. Anciently, Antiochus dismantled the Jewish nation and attempted to break the faith of the people. Mr. Flurry wrote:

Biblical prophecy shows that Satan leads both the first spiritual Antiochus and this last political Antiochus. Is it possible that he uses the same strategy to weaken physical Israel in between those two attacks?Does he have another Antiochus-type who undermines the nations of Israel and prepares them for their destruction by the Holy Roman Empire? The highest office in the world’s number one superpower, which happens to be a descendant of ancient Israel, would have to be a big target for Satan, wouldn’t you think? I am certain of it.

President Obama has been used to weaken the American superpower over the past eight years. Whether or not you agree with this prophecy, look at the fruits of the past two presidential terms. Isn’t America more divided than ever? Isn’t American power on the decline internationally? The past eight years are an outstanding example of fulfilled prophecy. The political Antiochus that has weakened modern Israel is no longer leading the U.S., but what should we expect next?

The election of Mr. Trump has given some hope and others great fear. His presidency marks another turning point in America. It marks a new era of American history and Bible prophecy. For all the cries of “Make America great again!” Mr. Trump’s presidency will only lead America further into decline.

As we bid farewell to Mr. Obama, we face a new challenge—and perhaps a more dangerous one. The age of President Trump is destined to fulfill new Bible prophecies of the greatest urgency. To read more on America’s future, check out Gerald Flurry’s article “America’s Coming Civil War.
