Following the United States election in November, the major media blamed Donald Trump’s stunning victory on the dissemination of “fake news” by right-wing types. In fact, fake news permeates every division of the major media conglomerate. And as Melanie Phillips noted in a recent column, this “post-truth” culture started decades ago with the doctrine of postmodernism—the belief that truth is relative, that there are no absolutes. Truth in journalism simply is not valued the way it once was. On today’s program, Stephen Flurry explains how important it is to be diligent seekers of truth—especially in the post-truth world of today.

In 2008, Barack Obama promised to curb the power of the executive branch in the United States government. He’s now down to his last week in office and, contrary to his campaign promise, he’s exercising all the executive powers he can in order to protect his legacy. Meanwhile, incoming President-elect Donald Trump is severing relations with the European Union and embracing Britain. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry explains what Bible prophecy says about the significance of these trends.

Throughout his presidency, United States President Barack Obama routinely offered concessions to authoritarian regimes without demanding anything in return. And with just seven days left in office, he’s done it again. Mr. Obama gave in to demands from Cuba to stop the “wet foot, dry foot” policy for Cuban refugees, effectively closing the U.S. to those fleeing prison in Cuba. The move is all the more disingenuous when you consider that America’s southern border with Mexico has been left wide open. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry discusses this latest decision from the outgoing president and also why the U.S. military isn’t as strong as most people believe it to be.

President-Elect Donald Trump gave his first press conference in 167 days on January 11. President Trump say he will be the “be the greatest jobs producer that God ever created.” But do his policies really indicate a much more inward focused and insular America. And will Donald Trump’s tough talk lead to a trade war? Conditions today are in many ways eerily similar to those during President Richard Nixon’s time in office. What does this mean for the future of America? And do the forecasts made by Herbert W. Armstrong during Nixon’s tenure reveal America’s near future?

United States President Barack Obama gave his farewell address last night back in Chicago where his presidential run began in 2008. He said America “is a better, stronger place than it was when we started.” President Obama was successful at implementing his leftist agenda, but it hasn’t made America better. Many people are unable to see why. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry examines the president’s farewell address and looks into what’s behind the baseless optimism of the liberal elites.

Last year, it was knife attacks in Jerusalem, and this year looks like it may be truck attacks. Over the weekend, an Arab terrorist drove a truck through a crowd of Israeli soldiers, killing four and wounding 13. One Palestinian website said the attacker was a martyr. The terrorist’s sister said her brother died the “most beautiful kind of saintly death.” That’s the way the Palestinian world views this attack. Yet the West blames the violence on Israel’s continued construction of day-care centers, homes and schools on its territory. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry discusses the real cause of the violence in Israel and explains where Bible prophecy says it’s all leading.

The world stands on the brink of yet another technological revolution. Advances in machine learning and vocal recognition are giving rise to new ways of intelligent machines—such as self-driving cars and electronic assistants. Some experts are predicting mass unemployment as machines take over yet more jobs once done by people. Are they right? Trumpet writer Richard Palmer examines the myths and truths behind these predictions and looks at how economic instability can lead to political and even global instability.

Four black teens in Chicago kidnapped and tortured a young, white, handicapped teenager this week and live-streamed a video of the torture. The kidnappers tied him up and taped his mouth shut, then beat him, sliced his scalp, forced him to curse Donald Trump and then drink from a toilet—all the while they yelled about how much they hated white people. The story was largely underreported in the liberal press. When President Barack Obama was questioned about the incident he said it was “terrible,” but also noted that race relations have improved during his presidency. On today’s show, Stephen Flurry discusses this disturbing event and how it shows the troubling direction America is headed.

Since the end of World War II, Germany has generally been content in America’s shadow. The nation has been reluctant to show its power, being satisfied with economic success. But 2017 presents Germany with major international challenges. With a Russian ally in the White House, German Chancellor Angela Merkel could become Russian President Vladimir Putin’s enemy No. 1. The radical shifts in American foreign policy will force Germany to make tough decisions—and force it to try and unite Europe around whatever decision it makes. All this will force Germany to throw its weight around on the world scene in a way not often seen. Trumpet staff writer Richard Palmer examines why 2017 will be the year Germany is forced to lead.

On today’s show, Stephen Flurry discusses: What to expect from President Barack Obama as he prepares for life outside the White House; How Angela Merkel will fare in what many are expecting to be a tough year for Germany; The significance of Bavaria’s attempted breakaway from mainstream Germany and how this region will influence Germany’s future direction.
