EU Says Iran Must Comply With Probe Into Its Nuclear Past

The European Union has warned Iran that there will be no nuclear deal unless it cooperates with a United Nations probe into its past work on the development of atomic arms.

So far, Iran has stalled the investigation, which seeks to discover the depth of Iran’s covert nuclear program. The cautionary EU statement, which will be released tomorrow, comes ahead of the June 30 target date for the nuke deal.

The EU statement says getting to the bottom of the allegations “will be essential” to a nuclear deal.

Iran denies any work on nuclear arms and has fended off demands for its cooperation with the UN investigation. Analysts believe the new EU demand could indicate its strengthening opposition to a final nuclear deal.
