The Beginning of Utopia!

Introducing the World Tomorrow’s happy system of education.

Why is there so little peace and prosperity in this world? Why can’t we live in a civilization that’s just bubbling over with joyous optimism and enthusiasm? Why so much division and strife, hatred and variance, disrespect and hostility toward authority? Why is there so little love and affection expressed toward spouses and children? Why are we seemingly facing such a bleak, hopeless future?

It’s because of the obsessively selfish and vain nature of human beings. Mankind is too self-centered to realize that there is, indeed, a higher power that will soon bring universal peace and prosperity to this Earth. Few have ever fully realized that Almighty God has the supernatural power and the infinite wisdom needed to actually make utopia on Earth a reality.

Yes, a literal utopian society—right here on Earth!

Does it seem far-fetched—pure fantasy? It shouldn’t! Not if you believe your Bible.

God sent His own Son to this world 2,000 years ago to preach a gospel message—“gospel” means good news—about the Messiah returning to this Earth as King of kings and Lord of lords, and being fully equipped with the glorified power necessary to set up a world-ruling Kingdom of God with its headquarters in Jerusalem.

Why have you heard precious little about this true gospel message from the traditional Christian denominations of this world? Why do they cling to the false hope that Christianity today can somehow make this present evil world a better place—even when the brutal reality of today’s headlines will inevitably be replaced by even greater perversities and tragedies of tomorrow?

Make no mistake—the Christianity of the Bible definitely has all the answers to solve the mounting problems of this present evil world. But the plain truth of God’s inspired Word reveals that He will solve our world crisis of increasing evils and violence—not by repairing or fixing our present civilization—but by building an altogethernew and different world that will soon replace the world we now live in.

Out with the old—in with the new!

There are literally hundreds of Bible passages describing this future utopian world. As our regular readers know, we have a free booklet that expounds on many of these beautiful, hope-filled prophecies.

God’s System of Education

One of the most important tasks Jesus Christ will confront upon His return to this Earth, as Herbert W. Armstrong explained in The Wonderful World Tomorrow—What It Will Be Like, is reeducating mankind based on a curriculum that relies on God’s inspired Word as the foundation for the acquisition of all knowledge.

In today’s world, numerous commentators can readily identify the godlessness, gross ignorance and useless knowledge peddled by professors in our very modern system of higher education. In his New York Times column a few weeks ago, David Brooks revealed his initial thoughts about a commencement address he had been asked to give at the Pennsylvania high school he attended 30 years ago.

“I used to believe life got better as you got older, but now I realize this is untrue,” Brooks lamented depressingly.

He then jumped from this personal lament to lambaste the woefully inadequate state of higher education, seemingly oblivious to the fact that there might be any connection between wrong education and life worsening with age. “The most important decision any of us make is who we marry,” Brooks said, stumbling onto a truth we have often repeated here at theTrumpet.com.

Yet there are no courses on how to choose a spouse. There’s no graduate department in spouse selection studies. Institutions of higher learning devote more resources to semiotics than love. The most important talent any person can possess is the ability to make and keep friends. And yet here too there is no curriculum for this. The most important skill a person can possess is the ability to control one’s impulses. Here too, we’re pretty much on our own. What young people really need is a lesson in how to choose a spouse and how to make and keep friends. These are all things with a provable relationship to human happiness. Instead, society is busy preparing us for all the decisions that have a marginal effect on human happiness.

In other words, as Mr. Armstrong often said, education today specializes in training young people how to make a living, without regard to the indispensable, God-revealed instruction about how we ought to live.

God’s system of education in the World Tomorrow will specialize in the production of godly character—the development of the whole man, as Solomon wrote. In fact, this wonderfully happy system has already been introduced—right here at Herbert W. Armstrong College, where AC students are held to the highest standard of Bible-based conduct, which teaches them to control the selfish “impulses” of man’s carnal nature. They learn from a curriculum designed to prepare them for the most important career man can enter—the God-ordained institutions of marriage and family. Armstrong College students are taught to put God and His work above all else in their lives (Matthew 6:33).

Learning to live this way—even now, in the midst of this present evil world—is why our headquarters facilities and college campus are bustling with productive activity and joyous well-being. Students and employees alike live happily here because God’s way of life is diligently taught and promoted and actively put into practice.

That doesn’t mean we are immune to the carnal pulls of the flesh. But God’s presence is here, which is why the environment is being beautified and maintained—and why there is so much unity and peace on these grounds.

The overall environment here is similar to what God intended for every human being to experience—a life that gets better with age!

And soon, this wonderful system of reeducation will blossom forth over all the Earth in the World Tomorrow, when God will turn the waste places and deserts into a Garden of Eden utopia—and where mankind will be joyously singing, praising God and offering thanks for His many blessings (Isaiah 51:3). Finally, all human beings will know what it’s like to experience an exhilarating life of true happiness, success and peaceful prosperity—real abundant living!
