Jesus Christ told us to watch and pray, looking for the signs of the end of the world (Luke 21:36). Those signs are all around us. Yet even most people who profess to be Christians don’t know or recognize those signs. They ignore Bible prophecy and remain asleep to just how rapidly and dramatically our world is accelerating toward the catastrophes—and the hope—that Jesus prophesied of!

Just look at a few of the many developments affecting our lives. Experts are warning that artificial intelligence could wipe out humanity within a few years. This technology is slipping out of control, and its makers don’t understand it—even as it is being integrated into weapons systems! War in Ukraine continues, despite all efforts to end it, motivating Europe to rearm. Germany is a boiling pot, politically: Voters have made a far-right party with Nazi associations the nation’s most popular political party. Yet United States President Donald Trump wants to dismantle nato and is encouraging Germany to arm itself. Is that wise? America is getting more isolated as Trump strikes blows at long-standing allies Britain, Canada, Israel and other nations. Supposedly mighty America has been unable to defeat Iran. Disruption to the global economy caused by the Iran war persists.

All these events have earthshaking implications and major prophetic significance! It’s not enough to know what is happening. In fact, it’s not even enough to understand how these events fulfill Bible prophecy.

These prophesied events are unfolding for a purpose: so that you change your life!

That is why this magazine exists. The Trumpet is unlike any other newsmagazine. It informs you about certain world events for a certain purpose. Thousands of other news sources fill our lives with news and information, yet people are still starving for answers. Why? Because they don’t know what to look for, they don’t understand how it connects to Bible prophecy, and they don’t grasp why God inspired Bible prophecy in the first place.

Did you know that one third of your Bible is prophecy? The same God who created mankind devotes huge portions of His Word to these forecasts of the future. Why?

He wants you to know what is going to happen—before it happens. “… I am God, and there is none like me,“ He says. “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand …” (Isaiah 46:9-10). Almost all that prophecy is being fulfilled now or is about to come to pass!

Like creation itself, prophecy proves God!

But understand: Prophecy is God’s warning to mankind. Prophecy foretells the consequences, nationally and individually, of choosing to disobey Him (e.g. Jude 15). God gives us prophecy to convince us to turn our lives to Him while there is still time! (Read Ezekiel 33:11 and Zephaniah 2:1-3.) So it serves a beautiful, loving purpose.

Prophecy is proof of and a warning from our Creator, the God of love!

God’s Word prophesies that dark, violent events will precede Christ’s return. Why, when God loves us? Because mankind’s rebellion against God causes darkness and violence. We bring these curses on ourselves—and then often blame God! This is the problem of all mankind, and that attitude is causing these dark events, present and future.

Time is indeed very short before the Second Coming. The increase in catastrophic events shows God strengthening His correction. God simultaneously wants to strengthen and intensify His prophetic warning to reach those who exhibit a teachable attitude, who willingly accept His authority and correction—who not only agree but also take action to obey Him!

He is doing that through this magazine and this work.

It is my fervent hope that you, dear reader, are one of those individuals who will respond to God’s warnings.

I have directed our writers to think more deeply about how to reach out and give you the understanding you need to recognize the unparalleled urgency of these times. We want to make sure we are concentrating intensely on the most significant prophecies unfolding right now. We want to prove to you how God told us these things would happen and what we should do about it.

At the same time, we want to show you the hope—the wonderful, sure hope that exists beyond this evil age! God gives us sure prophecies of warning and of hope to motivate us to change and to keep us stirred and uplifted, even amid accumulating tragedies.

“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28).

The world is descending into the global holocaust that Jesus Christ and other prophets specifically warned us of. But God promises to spare those who repent and turn to Him. He doesn’t just want to save your physical life. “Your redemption draws near” refers to the fact that He wants to give you eternal life!
