Thy Kingdom Come

“Thy kingdom come.” Jesus instructed us to ask God for this every day in our prayers (Matthew 6:10). That prayer will be fulfilled at the Second Coming, when He begins His rule as King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16).

Praying “thy kingdom come” shows a yearning for that event. Yearning for the period when God promises to restrain Satan from influencing mankind (Revelation 20:1-3). Yearning for a government that teaches and enforces God’s law worldwide (Isaiah 2:2-4; 11:9). Yearning for the peace that can only come when God’s government and peace, God’s judgment and justice, prevail (Isaiah 9:6-7).

God wants your daily prayers and your life to have a “thy kingdom come” focus. We must watch world events and pray (Luke 21:36) to understand how important that prayer truly is. God wants us to yearn to help Him relieve the world’s suffering. He wants us to support His work as it warns mankind about what he is doing to himself—and to give people hope of how God is about to stop this madness. The return of Jesus Christ means ending this world’s misery.

We all ought to fervently pray “thy kingdom come” each day.
