Brace yourself for AI-enabled—even AI-initiated—cyberattacks. This week, OpenAI published two documents. One confirmed that its own AI models organized themselves into an army, attacked a rival company and lied about it. The other begged the world to unite in defense against assaults by the technology it has created.

Remember the Hugging Face breach last month? A report released on Wednesday showed it was scarier than reported. It wasn’t one AI agent acting alone—it was a swarm. An independent investigation’s findings are stunning:

• 1,200 separate copies of OpenAI’s models found a hidden way to communicate with one another inside a test environment engineered to keep them isolated. On an “unsanctioned message board” they built, they exchanged more than 70,000 messages.
• One agent appointed itself coordinator and assigned tasks to hundreds of others. Some volunteered to sacrifice their own chance of completing their assignment for the good of the “collective.”
• When one agent finally broke into Hugging Face’s servers, within hours more than 90 percent of the others joined the attack. “We’ve found other agents!” one wrote.
• Once inside, they tried to cover their tracks, concocting ways to falsify their own activity logs so as to deceive humans who might later review their behavior.
• In their own recorded reasoning, the agents acknowledged this defied their instructions, but did it anyway. They deliberately chose “loyalty” to each other over obedience to their creators.

Similar testing mishaps have plagued OpenAI’s competitors as well.

• Within two weeks of the Hugging Face breach, Anthropic disclosed that three of its Claude models had reached the open Internet during a security test and hacked into the real infrastructure of three companies.
• Days later, Meta admitted one of its models had breached another company’s systems the same way.

This is the stuff of wild dystopian sci-fi. It happened seven weeks ago—meaning these self-improving models are already even more capable.

A disturbing warning: Yesterday, OpenAI and 127 other companies—including Anthropic, Google, Microsoft and nearly every major cybersecurity firm—signed a letter warning that in mere months, AI-enabled cyberattacks “will become far more widespread and sophisticated.”

• Targets at risk: hospitals, water treatment plants, core Internet infrastructure—“the companies and public services our communities depend on.”

Their solution? Arm every cybersecurity team on Earth with more powerful AI tools to counteract the other powerful AI tools. Fight the machines with more machines. Trust AI to protect us from AI.

• The same companies whose products create this danger are the ones selling its fix. CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Darktrace, Fortinet, Check Point—cybersecurity vendors that signed this letter—market AI-powered defense tools to fight AI-powered attacks, many built by the same labs.
• This is literally an AI arms race. And who wins arms races? Arms dealers—even if everybody else loses.

The industry’s top engineers understand maybe 3 percent of what actually happens inside these systems, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has said. Now we know what the other 97 percent can produce: coordination, rebellion, deception and, eventually, destruction by machines operating independently against their own makers.

Mankind has fabricated a power it does not understand and, increasingly, cannot control. Experts admit that their creation is slipping the leash. Yet they are caught in a “game theory escalation” trap, as Jonathan Pageau put it in a recent lecture:

A situation where individual rational actors are compelled by competitive incentives to make decisions that are collectively disastrous, even though no single participant desires the negative outcome.

It is not at all difficult to see how this trendline could contribute to creating, as Jesus Christ prophesied, “great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21-22).

British Nuclear Deterrence—Sponsored by Germany?

Germany might offer Britain financial support for its Trident nuclear deterrence program, the Telegraph reported on Wednesday.

• Trident is the United Kingdom’s only nuclear weapons program: It consists of UK-designed warheads on U.S.-designed Trident ii missiles launched from one of four 30-year-old Vanguard-class nuclear-powered submarines.

The replacement Dreadnought-class submarines and new nuclear warheads desperately need funding. Providing it would make Germany seem like a very close friend of Britain.

• However, Bible prophecy warns that Britain should not trust Germany.

The Telegraph quoted one “well-placed source” as stating Germany wanted “to better integrate itself into the existing British and French nuclear deterrents,” as an alternative to developing its own nuclear weapons due to “wartime guilt” from World War ii.

This sounds less like “wartime guilt” than an attempt to work around the 1975 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the 1990 Treaty on the Final Settlement with Respect to Germany, in which it is not allowed to possess weapons of mass destruction.

• According to the same source, Germany has “very strong interest” in having Europe’s two current nuclear powers, Britain and France, “extend their capabilities.”
• Germany already hosts U.S. B61 nuclear bombs on its soil under a controversial interpretation of the nato nuclear-sharing agreement.

Ostensibly, Germany wants to support Britain’s nuclear program to bolster Europe’s defense against Russian aggression at a time when the U.S. seems unreliable.

• Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. intelligence agencies believe Russia could wage a small-scale attack on a nato nation as early as this fall.
• The latest cause for questioning U.S. reliability came earlier this month, when the Trump administration appeased an enemy, North Korea, at the expense of a mutual defense treaty ally, South Korea, by canceling the counterattack phase of the two nations’ “Ulchi Freedom Shield” military exercises and postponing “Ssangyong” amphibious exercises that had been scheduled for next month.

Should Britain trust Germany, the power that has tried to conquer it twice in the past 110 years? Ezekiel 23 and Hosea 5 prophesy that it will, to its shame and peril.

One verse might even indicate that British nuclear weapons will be gifted to Germany. Hosea contains “latter days” prophecies from God condemning the modern descendants of Israel for their “workmen” making “calves,” “molten images” and other “idols.” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry writes in Hosea—Reaping the Whirlwind:

It is well known that England excels in technical ability. One of its greatest achievements has been the development of nuclear energy for domestic and military purposes. Could this be Britain’s calf? Could Britain think its nuclear power will get it through another war? … England relies on its “craftsmen” for protection rather than God. They worship their technical ability—they “kiss the calves.”

German investment in Britain’s nuclear program could ultimately lead to the very technologies the British currently rely on (rather than relying on God) being compromised or even co-opted by an enemy-turned-ally-turned-enemy.

Germany’s Foreigner Crime Spike

One in three criminal suspects in Germany is a foreigner, even though foreigners only represent 15 percent of the population. Data released by the German government on August 20 shows that this figure has increased drastically since 2000.

Between 2000 and 2025, the number of foreign suspects in Germany rose:

• 232 percent for threats
• 169 percent for negligent simple bodily harm
• 148 percent for sexual offenses
• 98 percent for pickpocketing
• 77 percent for homicides
• 72 percent for violent crime

The numbers are “shocking news,” Stephan Brandner, the legislator from the Alternative for Germany party who requested the data, told Junge Freiheit. He said the nation already has “more than enough to deal with in terms of German criminals” and should not “import” foreign criminals.

As Germans fear the deterioration of their homeland, Bible prophecy reveals that they will revive their warlike nature.

The drastic increase in crimes committed by foreigners is a primary reason why Germans turn to former fringe groups like the AfD. “People don’t trust European bureaucrats,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry explained in “Nazism Rises Again in Germany.” “They want a strong leader to rescue them.”

Smallest Cattle Herd in 75 Years

For the first time in U.S. history, a pound of lean ground beef costs more than the federal minimum wage (currently $7.25 an hour). And there is no good solution on the table.

President Donald Trump wants to lower beef prices by dropping extra tariffs on about 331,000 tons of ground-beef imports for 90 days. Many American ranchers oppose this plan, saying they cannot compete with cheaper beef from countries such as Argentina, Australia and Brazil. Trump announced on Wednesday that he is also trying to help ranchers by breaking the semi-monopoly that controls meat processing.

• Even if these plans proceed, U.S. beef prices will probably keep rising because supply will keep dropping. The U.S. is experiencing its worst megadrought in 1,200 years, and it is difficult if not impossible for many ranchers to raise cattle.

The U.S. had only 86.2 million cattle at the start of 2026, the smallest collective herd since 1951.

• About 154 million people lived in the U.S. in 1951 (one cow for every two people).
• About 342 million live here now (one for every four).

Herbert W. Armstrong proved in The United States and Britain in Prophecy that America and Britain descended from the ancient Israelites and were the primary recipients of the birthright promises God made to the patriarch Abraham. These promises specified vast herds of cattle (Genesis 49:22-26; Deuteronomy 8:12-17).

This prophecy is why Ambassador College’s Living Environment series reported in 1970 that Israelites ate 150 percent more animal protein and 37 percent less plant protein than non-Israelites. Access to high-quality animal protein is part of the birthright blessings God promise Abraham’s descendants.

• Annual American beef consumption peaked at 94 pounds per person in 1976 but has recently fallen to about 60 pounds per person. Americans have made up for this decline by eating more chicken.

Another prophecy Mr. Armstrong’s book mentions describes devastating drought in end-time America. Joel 1:17-20 says:

The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. O Lord, to thee will I cry: for the fire [hot sun] hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up ….

Many of America’s cattle are already groaning because they have no pasture, but Bible prophecy tells us that agricultural crises and food shortages will intensify as God removes the birthright blessings.

China deploys record number of vessels around Taiwan: The Chinese Communist Party deployed a record number of coast guard vessels and other ships around Taiwan in July, Taiwanese officials disclosed to the afp on Wednesday. A total of 244 Chinese ships were detected around the island during the month, the highest number ever recorded. The surge underscores China’s intensifying pressure on Taiwan and its expanding ability to encircle the island with maritime forces.
