Board of Peace makes a move on Gaza
United States President Donald Trump hosted the inaugural Board of Peace meeting yesterday. The board announced that Albania, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Morocco will send peacekeepers to Gaza. All five are Muslim-majority countries, but most are countries Israel has cordial relations with. Indonesia has no diplomatic relations with Israel, but neither is it a historic enemy. Two countries hostile to Israel, Qatar and Turkey, have considered sending peacekeepers, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears to have convinced Trump and his board to forgo this for now. The Board of Peace appears to be progressing in its goals for Gaza, but this is illusory.
