Historic first: Syria’s leader visits Washington

Today, for the first time in history, the leader of Syria will visit Washington. President Donald Trump hosts President Ahmed al-Sharaa, the former leader of an al Qaeda affiliate who overthrew the secular regime of Bashar Assad late last year.
