Leftist Attacks on ICE Claim a Life

By Joel Hilliker • September 25, 2025

Good morning!

America keeps getting walloped with bloodstained headlines—yesterday with a deadly attack on an ice facility in Dallas. We are still mourning the last when the next arrives. It is becoming more and more like Ezekiel prophesied, “Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.”

Receive a free news briefing in your inbox each weekday—the Trumpet Brief.

Our feature story this morning, by Jeremiah Jacques, shows how some of the hatred that leads to such attacks is being exploited and amplified by inventive foreign enemies.

Leftist attacks on ice claim a life: A sniper fired “indiscriminately” at an Immigration Customs Enforcement center in Dallas from the roof of another building yesterday, killing one detainee and seriously injuring two others, before killing himself.

One of the bullets had “anti ice” written on it. fbi Director Kash Patel called the shooting a “despicable, politically motivated” attack on law enforcement—yet in trying to shoot ice agents, the killer, 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, ended up shooting migrants instead.

It appears to be yet another instance of left-wing violence borne of hateful rhetoric—but for which the left will claim no responsibility.

  • This was at least the fourth threat or act of violence against border enforcement facilities in Texas this year.
  • Last Friday in Chicago, over 100 rioters surrounded an ice processing center, assaulted officers, threw tear gas canisters, and slashed tires; local police reportedly delayed response due to sanctuary policies.
  • dhs reports more than a 1,000 percent surge in assaults on ice officers since January.

Democrats say they denounce violence. But it is impossible to decouple the attacks on ice and Border Protection from the incessant reproach Democrat leaders have hurled at the Trump administration’s efforts to curb illegal immigration:

  • Cities and states declaring themselves sanctuaries, unwilling to cooperate with ice
  • City leaders refusing to send police to stop violence against ice and federal government facilities
  • California Governor Gavin Newsom demanding “no masks” on ice agents (“What are they afraid of?”)
  • Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson calling “jails and incarceration and law enforcement … a sickness”

These statements and actions supposedly spring from compassion for migrants, but they show no compassion for law enforcement officials or for citizens hurt by open borders. The fruits of their “compassion” are deadly.

Enforcing immigration law is critical for protecting citizens. Unchecked migration is a curse—and actually biblically prophesied.

An even further-left PM for the UK? British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is threatened by growing scandals. His deputy prime minister was already forced out after failing to pay her taxes. Top adviser Morgan McSweeney might be the next to fall.

McSweeney set up the “Labour Together” campaign group that helped unseat Jeremy Corbyn as Labour Party leader and get Starmer into power. Now it turns out he covered up donations to Labour Together. McSweeney claimed he asked the Electoral Commission if he needed to declare the donations and was told “no.” The commission has provided evidence to the contrary.

It looks like he’ll have to resign soon.

McSweeney may only be an adviser, but losing him will be a crisis for Starmer. Dan Hodges called him “the most powerful figure within the government—including Keir Starmer. As one minister told me: ‘People call him the real deputy prime minister. They’re wrong. He’s the real prime minister.’”

The vultures are circling. Nigel Farage’s Reform party is the most popular with voters, but it has no quick route to power. It would require another general election, which Starmer is not obliged to hold until August 2029.

But if Labour gets a new leader, Britain gets a new prime minister. Over the last few days, Manchester Mayor Andrew Burnham has made clear his desire to challenge Starmer. Burnham comes from the left wing of the party and wants wealth taxes, mansion taxes and more spending.

Starmer’s allies warn that Burnham would quickly trigger a bond market collapse, as investors pull their soon-to-be-taxed funds from the British government. They’re probably right.

Burnham would have to resign as mayor and run for Parliament to challenge Starmer, so it’s not an imminent prospect. But the fact that it’s making front-page news shows the dire situation Starmer’s government is in. Britain is bringing many curses on itself, as we describe in our September Trumpet issue.

IN OTHER NEWS

More drones over Danish airports: Denmark closed two airports overnight following repeated drone incursions. Authorities noted that military installations were also affected. Denmark’s defense minister said, “There can be no doubt that everything points to this being the work of a professional actor when we are talking about such a systematic operation in so many locations at virtually the same time. This is what I would define as a hybrid attack using different types of drones.” Denmark reported a similar incident on Monday. Uncertainty and fear are causing Europe to unite.

Former French president sentenced to prison: Today, a Paris court sentenced Nicolas Sarkozy to five years in prison for illegal campaign financing by Libya for his 2007 presidential campaign. The court found that he had close associates and political supporters approach the Libyan authorities. Sarkozy, who remains an influential conservative figure, dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, but the situation is one more reason why the leading nation of Europe, as the Trumpet has written for decades, will not be France.

The rapture did not happen—and won’t: A man in South Africa claimed God told him in a dream that “I will come to take my church” on September 23 and 24 this year. Clearly it was, as the Daily Mail headlined yesterday, a “doomsday false alarm.” But this wasn’t merely a miscounted date or a divinely missed deadline. The idea of a rapture is an unbiblical teaching. Learn what the Bible says—and doesn’t say—about it in “The Truth About the Secret Rapture.”
