Canada Also Plans to Recognize ‘Palestine’

By Joel Hilliker • July 31, 2025

To better grasp the scale of evil that Russian President Vladimir Putin is executing in Ukraine, read our feature story this morning on Russia kidnapping tens of thousands of children and brainwashing them to become Russian soldiers: “‘Your Parents Don’t Want You—but Russia Does.’”

Canada jumps aboard the Palestinian state bandwagon: Hamas is surely celebrating its good luck. First France, then the United Kingdom, now Canada—another Western state is rewarding the terrorist group for holding Israel’s hostages indefinitely (663 days now). Prime Minister Mark Carney issued a statement yesterday announcing, “Canada intends to recognize the State of Palestine” at the UN meeting in September.

Carney wasn’t quite as craven and imbecilic as the UK’s Keir Starmer, who imposed conditions on Israel and essentially told Hamas, We’ll recognize a state as long as you don’t release the hostages. Instead, Canada said:

This intention is predicated on the Palestinian Authority’s commitment to much-needed reforms, including the commitments by Palestinian Authority President Abbas to fundamentally reform its governance, to hold general elections in 2026 in which Hamas can play no part, and to demilitarize the Palestinian state.

This is still a blow to Israel.

  • Canada’s statement blames the Israeli government for its failure “to prevent the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian disaster in Gaza, with impeded access to food and other essential humanitarian supplies” and its settlement building.
  • It says Hamas must immediately release all hostages but doesn’t explicitly tie compliance with the promise of statehood.
  • It requires the Palestinian Authority to commit to elections in 2026—long after Canada would recognize “Palestine.” So Canada won’t wait to see if the PA honors those commitments or if the elections are free and fair.
  • It requires that elections be democratic but exclude Hamas. But it was a democratic election that put Hamas in power, and many Palestinians still want Hamas. The notion that blacklisting a specific party will transform the electorate into a peaceful body, content to live alongside Jews, is insane.

Hamas snatched some 250 hostages on Oct. 7, 2023. What a coup. In exchange, it has secured the release of over 2,000 prisoners and somehow turned world opinion against Israel. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza would end immediately if Hamas released the remaining hostages. Yet the world puts all responsibility on Israel.

France, the UK, Canada: Prophetically, these are Israelite nations turning against the Jewish state, a fellow Israelite nation—and for standing up to a death cult. Absolutely shameful.

MAGA wants on that bandwagon too: President Trump responded to Canada’s announcement: “That will make it very hard for us to make a trade deal with them. Oh’ Canada!!!” But on the issue of Israel, a good chunk of his MAGA base seems aligned with Carney and Starmer.

Axios’s main story today is “Gaza starvation widens MAGA’s rupture with Israel.” Many Republican leaders are growing more brazen in their criticisms.

  • Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene became the first Republican in Congress to call Israel’s war a “genocide.”
  • Rep. Thomas Massie on social media yesterday said “there’s no rational argument” why the U.S. should be supporting Israel.

“A growing number of Gen Z conservatives—removed from the historical context that shaped older Republican views—see Israel as just another ally taking advantage of America’s generosity,” Axios writes.

What we are seeing on Israel is a generational split around the age of 40. Over 40 support, under 40 range from skeptical to wanting to cut all ties.
—Jack Posobiec, prominent conservative

After America’s failed conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere, the rise in isolationism and opposition to so-called forever wars is predictable. But as our editor in chief wrote in our March issue, what is at stake in America’s alliance with Israel is nothing less than national survival.

How pedophiles are circumventing adoption restrictions: This is a horrific story. Every state in the U.S. outlaws sex offenders from fostering or adopting children. However, a growing “rent a womb” industry—gestational surrogacy, hiring a woman to carry and deliver a baby using an embryo created via in vitro fertilization—is providing them a workaround.

This week we learned that a viral video of two men kissing a baby they had purchased through surrogacy (thanks to a GoFundMe campaign) featured a convicted pedophile. Less than a decade ago, Brandon Mitchell, a former high school chemistry teacher, faced criminal charges for soliciting images from a teenage student. The Federalist reports:

Thanks to the unregulated nature of the gametes-buying and rent-a-womb industries, anyone who can afford to commission a child can do so without any vetting. … In fact, “surrogacy friendly” pre-birth orders in more than a dozen states, including Pennsylvania in some cases, ensure that whoever commissions the creation of a child via IVF and surrogacy has established parents’ rights protections before labor ever begins.

This is not a one-off case; the Federalist points to other gut-wrenching examples. As gestational surrogacy grows in popularity, such instances of perversion and depravity are certain to increase as well. It reflects the rising influence in our world of the “god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4), an evil spirit being who passionately hates family as God created it.

IN OTHER NEWS

President Trump announced a trade deal with South Korea, just before his deadline for reaching such deals expires tomorrow. The U.S. will impose tariffs of 15 percent on most goods from South Korea, down from 25 percent if it had not reached a deal. South Korea also pledged to invest $350 billion in America. Cars and semi-conductors will be taxed at 15 percent, while steel and aluminum will face tariffs of 50 percent. South Korea has the biggest shipbuilding industry in the world after China. It promised to spend $150 billion to help America build ships, including warships. The deal has been fairly uncontroversial so far, with South Korean stock rising slightly. However, South Korea has been shifting away from America for months, in part due to trade pressure.

Migration ended? Only 10 people migrated through the Darién Gap in June, according to Migración Panama, a Panamanian government agency. The Darién Gap is a remote stretch of jungle connecting Panama with Colombia, making it the only land bridge between North and South America. During the Biden administration, it was a nexus for migrants from all over the world to journey through to reach the U.S. In August of 2023 alone, Migración Panama recorded almost 82,000 migrants. Trump halting this in a matter of months demonstrates America is right now in a resurgence—but it will only be temporary.

Germany’s defense ministry will spend billions modernizing its military, insiders told Reuters. Purchases will include 20 Eurofighter jets equipped for electronic warfare, up to 3,000 Boxer armored vehicles, 3,500 Patria infantry fighting vehicles, additional IRIS-T air defense systems, and hundreds of Sky Rangers for drone combat. With Europe now outspending the U.S. on defense technology acquisition, this marks a major shift with far-reaching implications for future warfare.

People are hiring witches to cast spells: A growing trend of “Etsy witches” who sell spells and metaphysical services is the subject of a Wall Street Journal report. People seeking solutions for love, jobs and other life challenges are paying literal witches $20 to $250 a pop for supernatural help. Examples include a student landing a job after a $15 spell and a Knicks fan buying spells for game wins. A Washington Post journalist tried it out and said that though nothing has worked out yet, “Maybe doors are about to swing open for me, and who’s to say the spell won’t have something to do with it? Plus I want it to be real.” What a weird world. This stupidity is why God forbids witchcraft (e.g. Leviticus 19:26; 20:27). As G.K. Chesterton was supposed to have said, when men cease to believe in God, they don’t then believe in nothing—they believe in anything.

The United States and Britain in Prophecy
People of the Western world would be stunned—dumbfounded—if they knew! The governments of the United States, Britain, Canada, Australasia, South Africa would set in motion gigantic crash programs—if they knew! They could know! But they don’t! Why?
Redefining Family
There is a deadly deceit behind same-sex ‘marriage’—and it revolves around man’s most inspiring hope.
