Supreme Court Smacks Down Bossy District Court Judges

By Joel Hilliker • June 30, 2025

Former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg says Europe needs to become independent from the United States, and it needs to do it now. Read this morning’s feature story by Josué Michels to learn why. His call for a unified European military aligns with his long-standing advocacy for a stronger, independent Europe, potentially positioning him as a key leader in this transformation.

The U.S. Supreme Court ended the rule of “700 presidents.” In a big win for President Trump, the court ruled 6-3 on Friday that federal district court judges cannot issue nationwide injunctions that block executive actions beyond the specific plaintiffs in a case. The decision limits district courts from halting President Donald Trump’s policies, such as his executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship, across the entire country.

The Court’s conservative majority, led by Justice Amy Coney Barrett, argued that nationwide injunctions exceed the authority granted to federal courts by Congress.

The three liberal justices dissented. Justice Sonia Sotomayor called the decision a “travesty for the rule of law.” Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson warned it poses an “existential threat” by allowing potential constitutional violations to go unchecked until lawsuits progress. But Coney Barrett’s ruling attacked the illogic in Justice Jackson’s legal reasoning: “Justice Jackson … chooses a startling line of attack that is tethered neither to these sources nor, frankly, to any doctrine whatsoever.”

This is not only a major win for the rule of law in America, it also highlights the role of what biblical prophecy describes as “the king’s court” in helping the Trump administration. Gerald Flurry’s article “Is America’s Supreme Court in Bible Prophecy?” explains.

More SCOTUS rulings: It was a busy last day of the court’s term, and it handed down a couple more rulings that demonstrated some common sense:

  • In Free Speech Coalition v Paxton, it decided that states can legally require age verification to view pornography. Unsurprisingly, Kagan, Sotomayor and Jackson dissented.
  • In Mahmoud v. Taylor, it ruled that parents have a First Amendment right to opt their children out of public-school instruction involving LGBTQ-themed storybooks that conflict with their religious beliefs. Again the court’s leftist women justices dissented.

“Death, Death to the IDF”: At the Glastonbury Festival this past Saturday— perhaps the world’s most famous music festival—one performer, Bobby Vylan, led the crowd in chants of “Free, free Palestine” and “Death, death to the IDF” (Israel Defense Forces), went on a rant criticizing a Jewish record company boss, and used the phrase “from the river to the sea”—a call for Israel’s elimination.

  • The BBC, which broadcast the performance live, faced criticism for not cutting the stream; it later admitted it should have.
  • Vylan remained unapologetic, posting on Instagram, “I said what I said,” and calling for a change in foreign policy.
  • The Irish rap group Kneecap made similar pro-Palestinian remarks. So too did Irish singer Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson.
  • The lead singer of another Dublin band criticized the “genocide” of the Gazan people during his set.
  • English musician Jordan Stephens invited his mother to the stage to dance; she was wearing a keffiyeh and waving a Palestinian flag.

Tickets to this festival cost hundreds of pounds. It is attended by the wealthy and elite—investment bankers from London, the children of politicians, students attending private schools. And they are chanting “Death to the IDF.” As Melanie Phillips wrote:

So what happened at Glastonbury was that thousands of young people—the coolest, hippest young people who are into peace and love and the brotherhood of man—were chanting for the murder of Jews, beneath a forest of flags that transmit a similar message to the Nazi swastika.

That’s because the cause of “Palestine” is founded entirely upon the aim of annihilating Israel, murdering Jews and stealing from them their own history in the land of Israel. It is no exaggeration to hear in the delirious chanting at Glastonbury the chilling echoes of the rallies at Nuremberg.

For it is only Jews, and the Jewish state, who are singled out for such murderous frenzy. The Glastonbury crowds aren’t chanting “Death to the Chinese Communist Party” or “Death to Russian forces” in protest at the persecution of the Uighurs or the onslaught against Ukraine. They chant for the murder only of those who have been defending their people against genocidal annihilation for the past 20 months.

Britain today has ominous echoes of Britain in the 1930s, when the elites in particular turned anti-Semitic. This is historically a very dangerous trend, and it will prove to be yet again.

Iranian officials: Wow, that could have been a lot worse: According to communication among “senior Iranian officials” intercepted by the United States and leaked to the Washington Post, these officials are wondering (in the Post’s words) “why the strikes directed by President Donald Trump were not as destructive and extensive as they had anticipated.” The White House did not dispute the communication’s authenticity but disputed the Iranian claim. “The notion that unnamed Iranian officials know what happened under hundreds of feet of rubble is nonsense,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told media. “Their nuclear weapons program is over.” This story casts further doubt on Trump’s claim he achieved “total obliteration.” The Trumpet still expects Iran to develop nuclear weapons. Democrats won’t condemn anti-ICE violence: Nearly 200 House Democrats voted against a Republican resolution condemning violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles that caused over $30 million in damages following ICE raids in June 2025. Andrew Miiller has more.

Russian forces have advanced into the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, capturing key areas and threatening vital supply lines, as part of a broader offensive that has seen them take significant territory in the Donetsk region in 2025, our InBrief reports.

Russia and India have deepened their defense ties with a new agreement focusing on joint military deployments and logistical support to enhance their strategic partnership and counter regional security challenges, another InBrief explains.

Zohran Mamdani has proposed shifting NYC’s property tax burden to “richer and whiter neighborhoods” to address inequities in the city’s tax system. If the New York City mayoral candidate is the face of the new Democrat party, it is yet more racism coming from the left.
