Spending Bill ‘a Disgusting Abomination,’ Says Musk

By Richard Palmer • June 4, 2025

President Trump won a little noticed but important victory in gaining control of his government a couple of weeks ago. The U.S. Supreme Court allowed him to fire a couple of members of the bureaucracy blocked by a district judge. Is this the beginning of an important turnaround? Our main story has more.

“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Elon Musk posted on X about President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.” He issued several more dramatic warnings:

  • “It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.”
  • “Interest payments already consume 25 percent of all government revenue If the massive deficit spending continues, there will only be money for interest payments and nothing else! No social security, no medical, no defense … nothing.”
  • “This immense level of overspending will drive America into debt slavery!”

It’s Musk’s most direct criticism of the president to date, but he’s right. It’s projected to add from $2.3 trillion to $5 trillion to America’s debt over the next 10 years.

Sen. Rand Paul also criticized the bill, prompting President Trump to hit back, saying Paul “has very little understanding” of the bill and calling it “a big winner!!!”

The bill has passed the House, but several Republicans, including Paul, threaten to block it in the Senate.

In 2013, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry warned: “No nation has ever borrowed and printed money the way America has.” He said this “ought to shock Americans to their senses, but most people are too involved in their sports and pleasures to notice.” At least some, like Musk, are outraged. “I guarantee you, America’s financial problems will intensify until they get our full attention! … This crisis is far bigger than just one candidate or political party,” Mr. Flurry wrote. With a change in party, the debt crisis continues to worsen. He concluded:

There is only one answer. It is only by obeying God, by applying His laws and principles of life that we can bring real hope and joy into our lives. We do need real change to solve our problems. And even though we will go through some dark times, God will bring that to pass. He is about to effect a revolution by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to rule this Earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. The Bible also prophesies about that—and those prophecies are sure. We are almost there! Take hope in that.

Is June less prideful? On the subject of abominations, June has become “pride month” for many U.S. businesses, which are declaring their support for perversion through rainbow logos and other pride displays. This year it’s been much less in your face.

Yesterday, Pete Hegseth ordered usns Harvey Milk to be renamed. Milk was a homosexual pedophile, and it is a great shame to the U.S. Navy that they ever named a ship after him—as Chris Eames described when the ship was first christened.

The decline of pride also exposes how much the Obama administration pushed it. With him out of office, corporate diversity, equity and inclusion efforts have been reduced and usaid is no longer pushing perversion around the world.

However, not naming ships after pedophiles is a pretty low bar. Things have improved, but the nation has a long way to go to return to God’s standard of morality. You can read more about this in our booklet Redefining Family.

South Korea elected a new president in a hotly contested election yesterday. The victor, Lee Jae-myung, will probably shift the country in a more pro-China direction.

The election came after President Yoon Suk Yeol tried to impose martial law and essentially take over as a dictator. He failed and was impeached. Yoon’s right-wing People Power Party suffered in the election as a result, leading Lee, of the left-wing Democratic Party, to win a decisive victory of 48.4 percent to 41.6 percent.

“Under Yoon, South Korea took major steps to normalize relations with Japan and deepen trilateral security cooperation with Washington and Tokyo,” wrote GZero Media. “… Lee, by contrast, has a long record of skepticism toward both Japan and the U.S. While he’s publicly committed to maintaining stable relations with Tokyo, his past rhetoric—calling Yoon’s Japan policy ‘subservient’—hints at a deeper ideological divergence.”

During the campaign, Lee said that South Korea should sit on the sidelines if China invades Taiwan. Lee’s party members have been warmly embraced in China, with the speaker of the National Assembly invited for an hourlong meeting with Xi Jinping.

“If Lee wins on Tuesday South Korea’s domestic politics, its regional alignment, and its U.S. alliance could all shift dramatically,” GZero Media wrote. “This is a turning point,” according to regional expert Jeremy Chan. “Not just for Korea, but for the entire Indo-Pacific. And the signals from Beijing, Tokyo and Washington suggest that they all know it.”

We’ve long expected South Korea to be part of a prophesied alliance of Asian nations, including Russia and China. Lee’s election could be a decisive moment for that alliance. Our In Brief has more.

IN OTHER NEWS

China is more popular around the world than the U.S., according to new data published by Morning Consult. America’s popularity has dropped dramatically since President Trump took office, while China’s has risen slightly. Our In Brief has a more detailed breakdown.

America is backing out of Syria: U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack announced to Turkish media Monday that the U.S. military will shrink its presence in Syria from eight bases to one. The U.S. has about 2,000 soldiers in Syria. But as we wrote in “Making Friends With Al Qaeda,” the new government cannot be trusted.

Syria fired rockets into Israel yesterday for the first time in over a year. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz blamed the Syrian government, headed by President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Israel retaliated with air strikes of its own. Even though the new government in Damascus is anti-Assad, that doesn’t mean it is a friend to Israel.

Which is it? Will Iran be allowed to enrich uranium? That is the key sticking point for President Trump’s new nuclear deal. The New York Times claimed yesterday that Iran could be allowed to do so “at low levels” as part of a regional consortium. A senior Iranian official told Axios they would be prepared to accept the deal—as long as the consortium was based in Iran. This could be the start of another capitulation to Iran.

Another tragic new anti-Semitism record: The number of anti-Semitic incidents in Germany rose by 77 percent in 2024 compared to the year before, according to the Federal Association of Anti-Semitism Research and Information centers. The report said Oct. 7, 2023, began a “new era” for Jew hatred. Nearly 24 anti-Semitic incidents were reported each day last year, compared to 13 each day in 2023. The rise in these attacks is a major signal of danger to the whole world.

White British people will be a minority in their own country in 40 years, according to a new analysis of birth and death rate data published by Prof. Matt Goodwin of Buckingham University. They defined “white British” as those without an immigrant parent, and found that by 2063 they’ll be in the minority. Immigration has become a curse to many nations around the world, as we explored in our April 2024 Trumpet issue.
