Born: June 4, 1942 in the Transkei region to political-activist parents who were saturated in Marxist dogma.

Age 10: Enrolls in Lovedale Institute. Later expelled for organizing protests.

Age 14: Joins anc Youth League.

Age 20: Smuggled out of South Africa. Surfaces in England at Sussex University.
