Princess of Wales Diagnosed With Cancer

Catherine, princess of Wales, revealed on March 22 that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.

The 42-year-old mother of three young children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—went into the hospital on January 16 for abdominal surgery. While that treatment was initially successful, tests after the operation discovered that she had cancer.

This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.
—Princess Catherine

Fragile monarchy: With King Charles iii also being treated for cancer, and Prince William helping to care for Catherine and their children, the monarchy is looking especially fragile.

This is a smaller and frailer royal family than Britain is used to. It scarcely seems believable that only a decade ago, people were complaining about there being far too many members of it.
