Hezbollah Uses Palestinian Camps to Stash Weapons

In its latest efforts to defy pressure to disarm, Hezbollah has been stealthily moving missiles and weapons from its arms stockpiles into Palestinian refugee camps in south Lebanon, according to Lebanese officials. The refugee camps are off limits to both Lebanese and international forces, making them the perfect holding pen for Hezbollah rockets destined to hit Israel, whose border is but a few miles away.

Aaron Klein from WorldNetDaily.com wrote,

[T]he office of Lebanese Prime Minister Faud Sinora sent a letter last week to Abbas Zakir, the Palestinian Authority’s most senior representative in Lebanon, outlining the alleged Hezbollah weapons transfers into Palestinian camps. The letter noted “unusual activity” in and near Palestinians camps, including the coming and going of trucks suspected of carrying weapons. The reports follow a wnd article last month quoting Lebanese officials claiming Hezbollah, with the help of Iran, started building underground war bunkers in Lebanon’s Palestinian camps. …The Lebanese Army and a contingent of several thousand international troops have deployed in south Lebanon. None of these forces are authorized to enter Palestinian refugee camps.

Fatah, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and other Palestinian organizations have camps in southern Lebanon. It appears these groups are now providing a safe haven for Hezbollah to continue to prepare for the next round of war against Israel. Such a level of cooperation reveals the warm state of relations among terrorist groups. United by common ambition, Islamic extremists are pushing forward with greater cohesiveness to form a terrorist belt encompassing their enemy Israel. And the untouchable location of these weapons only increases Israel’s vulnerability.

The picture of a Palestinian fighter throwing rocks at Israeli troops is now a thing of the past. Hezbollah led from the front in the war it started against Israel, and now other terrorist groups will follow suit. With more destructive weapons at their side and Hezbollah as their guide, Palestinian terrorists are likely to push forward with intensifying engagements against Israel in the near future.
