Chinese and Japanese Leaders Aim to Mend Relations
China and Japan agreed to boost ties on Thursday when Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held talks. Their meeting, the first in a year between the two leaders, took place at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco.
Xi said during the meeting that the two countries need to reaffirm their “strategic relationship of mutual benefit and give it new meaning.”
Japanese media said Xi and Kishida are expected to attempt a new framework for exports and trade.
The Trumpet says: Regardless of such superficial signs of rapprochement, China and Japan remain mortal enemies today. However, the Trumpet expects Japan to eventually break its ties with the United States and align with the Russia-China axis.
