Putin Prepares for Reelection

Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing a group of “social activists” to support his reelection campaign starting in mid-December, Kommersant reported on November 13.

The newspaper listed several renowned Russians as likely supporters, including Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space, who put forward a constitutional amendment that could allow Putin to stay in power until 2036. The list also includes movie director Nikita Mikhalkov, pediatrician Leonid Rohsal and patriotic singer Shaman.

‘Force of nature’: Putin has been ruling Russia, either officially or in a de facto capacity, since New Year’s Eve 1999. His current six-year term ends in March 2024. But with his unassailable grip on the media, voting processes and other levers of power, we should not expect him to leave office.

Onlookers in and outside of Russia understand that between Putin’s true popularity and his ability to rig the vote, it would be virtually impossible for him to lose.

[T]he result is already determined; there’s no way to change it, unless the incumbent dies. People treat [the process of voting] more like a force of nature than like something that they can influence.

The Trumpet says: Based on Bible prophecy, we can be certain Putin will remain in power.

Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has identified Putin as the “chief prince” of Ezekiel 38:2, better translated as “prince of Rosh” or “prince of Russia.” Revelation 9:16 shows this individual will eventually lead a 200 million-man army, which will play a major role in the most barbaric war mankind has ever experienced.
