Increasing Russian-Chinese Engagement

Russian Navy Chief Nikolai Yevmenov visited some of China’s most important naval facilities to “show off the partnership between the countries,” the South China Morning Post reported on July 8.

In Beijing, Yevmenov and Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Li Shangfu discussed ways to deepen Russia-China naval cooperation. Li told Yevmenov that the two should stage more joint exercises and patrols and work to increase all levels of communication.

In Shanghai, Yevmenov visited the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard. This facility produces the Chinese Navy’s Type 054 frigates, as well as advanced submarines, amphibious assault vessels and transport dock ships.

Yevmenov also visited a shipyard in Tsingtao, Shandong province, as well as the Navy Submarine Academy in Qingdao, a highly restricted facility credited with making the Chinese Navy a submarine superpower.

The decision to let Yevmenov see the shipyards and advanced submarine facilities demonstrates “a high level of trust between the Chinese and Russian militaries,” said Xiao Bin of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Meanwhile, tass reported today that a delegation from Russia’s Federal Assembly is in Beijing holding meetings with the highest-ranking members of the Chinese Communist Party, including General Secretary Xi Jinping.

The Trumpet said: The deepening cooperation between Russia and China is an outcome that Bible prophecy warns about in books such as Ezekiel and Revelation. Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has said that Russia will lead an end-time power bloc with China as its main partner. The two are already fulfilling the early phases of these prophecies.

In 2014, after China backed Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula, Mr. Flurry called the support “a stunning fulfillment of a biblical prophecy!”

[W]e have been proclaiming for over 50 years that Russia, China and other Asian nations would ally themselves in the end time. And we are in that end time now.

When these Asian nations—extremely powerful nuclear-armed countries—begin to show solidarity with each other regarding moves like that, what does that portend for the world? I tell you it is woe to the world.
