Macron Demands Security Guarantees for … Russia

In a tv interview broadcast on December 3, French President Emmanuel Macron talked about his vision for peace in Europe. Remarkably he reiterated a demand by Russian President Vladimir Putin that the United States had previously rejected: additional security guarantees for Russia.

One of the essential points we must address—as President Putin has always said—is the fear that nato comes right up to its doors and the deployment of weapons that could threaten Russia. … That’s why we have to work out what we’re ready to do, how we’re going to protect our partners and member states, and how we’re going to give guarantees to Russia once it returns to the negotiating table.

A reminder: In “Russia Demands a New Iron Curtain,” we listed Mr. Putin’s 2021 demands and explained:

If agreed, the U.S. and nato would cross a line they’ve refused to cross: giving Russia a say in the foreign relations of other countries. Ukraine and others would become a kind of second-class state, unable to move away from Russia without Russian permission. The U.S. would publicly declare that Russia is the overlord of Eastern Europe and that the U.S. operates there only with Russia’s permission.

A common interest: There is one thing the Russian and French presidents share: a hatred for the U.S.

  • Macron has previously called nato “brain dead.”
  • He has demanded independence from America and dependence on Germany.
  • He praised French Nazi collaborator Marshal Pétain as a “great soldier.”
  • He now implies that the U.S.’s rejection of the security guarantees may be the cause of conflict.

Germany’s demands: As Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry noted in “France Rejects America—and Empowers Germany!”, Macron is often acting as a mouthpiece for German interest. Macron knows the European Union needs a strong Germany, and Germany needs good relations with Russia.

Geopolitics without nato: If you leave the U.S. out of the picture, the German-led EU and Russia will decide the fate of Eastern Europe. In World War ii a similar balance of power divided Eastern Europe between the two. nato’s goal has been to prevent history from repeating itself. This is why Germany, France and Russia work to undermine the institution today (read “Why Germany Just Betrayed America”).

France in prophecy: Specific prophecies indicate that France will betray its World War ii ally and turn to Germany. To understand, read “France Rejects America—and Empowers Germany!
