Rally Against Police After Alleged Assault at Pool Party
Hundreds of demonstrators rallied outside an elementary school in McKinney, Texas, to protest the actions of a white police officer against a mostly black group of teenagers at a pool party.
Some who gathered on Monday in the Dallas suburb held signs that included the phrases “Black lives matter” and “My skin color is not a crime.” About a dozen counter-protesters held signs supporting police.
Mobile footage had gone viral, showing officer David Casebolt of the McKinney Police Department slamming a 15-year-old girl to the ground while trying to break up a disturbance.
Casebolt has been placed on leave pending a police investigation.
