Barr also said he believes Special Counsel Jack Smith has “a lot more evidence as to President Trump’s state of mind” that was not written in the latest indictment. In 2018, Barr criticized Special Counsel Robert Mueller for trying to “divine” whether Trump acted with corrupt motives in his relations with Russia. Now Barr himself is divining Trump’s mindset and ignoring the lack of concrete evidence against him.
