Seven years later, Germany entered into a deal with Russia to construct pipelines to transfer oil and natural gas. At the time, Donald Trump warned, “Germany will become totally dependent on Russian energy if it does not immediately change course.” Today, Vladimir Putin is turning down the oil and gas supply to Europe, forcing Germany to abandon its “clean” energy pipe dream and reactivate its coal power plants.
