Why Barack Obama Is Back
Why Barack Obama Is Back
With America’s midterms days away, two presidents held rival rallies in Michigan last weekend:
- President Donald Trump campaigned for Republican Mike Rogers in Port Huron, telling the crowd he was there “to keep a jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member from becoming a United States senator.”
- Barack Obama campaigned in Detroit for that candidate, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, saying, “Abdul is fighting for change. Real change.”
It is the same “change” Obama has always preached: fundamental transformation. Some have thought that El-Sayed is too extreme, even for Obama. But he isn’t.
Why it matters: This is more than one Senate race. Obama is clawing his way back toward relevance after dominating the presidency and the nation for two terms, getting bested by Trump in 2016, returning for a third term through Joe Biden, and then watching Trump come back again in 2024, against all odds.
- Since then, Obama has been comparatively weak and certainly quieter. With midterms happening now and the end of President Trump’s term only two years away, is this Obama’s last stand?
The record:
- For eight years, Obama worked to save, empower and even provide a path to nuclear weapons for Iran’s regime. He backed the Islamist revolt that replaced Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak with the Muslim Brotherhood, waged an unauthorized war in Libya that left the country closer to Iran, and stood down in the face of an Islamist attack in Benghazi.
- As he left office in 2016, he set up the Russia-collusion hoax to cripple Donald Trump’s first term.
- He has shown open contempt for Benjamin Netanyahu, and he would gladly see Israel surrender to its enemies.
Now he lectures America about Iran: “I didn’t have to fire a missile. I engaged in diplomacy.” He says this even though his diplomacy put Iran’s regime in the position of power it has today.
- In 2008, the nation swooned. Today, although some journalists are once again fawning over him, many people recognize him as a liar and a snake.
The silencing: At Trump’s 2025 inauguration, Obama had to sit quietly while the new president denounced his era as “unsovereign, unsafe, unjust.” In March 2025, my father, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry, wrote “God Is Silencing Obama”:
This time, he appears toothless. We will see just how decisive and permanent this loss of influence is.
Why does he keep resurfacing? No one was punished. The Trump administration exposed the corruption but never brought the traitors to justice. When evil goes unpunished, it comes back. Now, it could have a significant impact on America’s upcoming elections and the nation’s future.
Anthropic Going Public With a $100 Billion Bet
Yesterday, Anthropic filed to sell stock on the Nasdaq, potentially the largest initial public offering in history.
- The company behind Claude AI may try to raise a record $100 billion.
- Some insiders think the company could be valued at $2 trillion.
This news punctuated an extraordinary day of AI deal-making. Anthropic’s potential $100 billion ipo, SpaceX borrowing $40 billion to buy new nvidia AI chips, and Meta’s plans to raise up to $95 billion for its own AI projects add up to roughly 1 percent of U.S. gross domestic product.
Building AI is extremely costly. Anthropic may soon be paying SpaceX $3.1 billion a month for computing capacity alone and has committed to spending $750 billion on computing power over the next decade.
- These figures have raised worries that AI spending is a “bubble” and that companies in the industry and connected to it are valued far beyond their actual output and worth.
- In its June annual report, the Bank for International Settlements (bis) said the AI-spending boom, forecast to reach $2.5 trillion worldwide this year, may prove unsustainable and could produce a financial crisis similar to the dotcom bubble bursting in 2000.
AI is clearly a world-changing technology, but many businesses are investing without clear ways to measure its financial benefits. If the real-world financial output of AI doesn’t rise high enough fast enough, the value of these investments will drop sharply, rapidly deflating not only the value of these companies but affecting everything that is connected to them.
- Internet-related stocks reached a $3 trillion valuation by March 2000 before losing 78 percent of their value in 2½ years. Hundreds of Internet companies went public in the late 1990s and were delisted or out of business completely by the end of 2002.
- If history repeats itself with AI, some economists estimate America’s entire gdp could drop 1 to 3 percent.
- The bis is also warning of three other economic risks—inflation, fragile bond markets and soaring government debt—that could make an AI bubble’s burst more painful than the dotcom bust.
The wisest king who ever lived warned against the kind of risk-taking now inflating the AI bubble. In Proverbs 22:26-27, Solomon wrote, “Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts. If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?”
- This verse cautions against foolishly pledging what you cannot afford to lose, such as guaranteeing debts or investing heavily with borrowed money. Learn more about how the world is ignoring this wisdom on an unprecedented scale in our August cover story, “The AI Gamble.”
Christians Massacred in Historic Heartlands
Recent unrest in Jordan, Syria and Ethiopia reminds us how dangerous the Middle East and Africa are for Christian minorities, even in countries considered relatively more tolerant.
In Jordan, terrorist gunmen massacred Christians on Friday as they attended a Greek Orthodox church for a funeral, killing nine and wounding 40.
- The Jordanian government arrested three suspects yesterday, claiming they belonged to “an extremist, radical ideology.” The Islamic State has claimed responsibility.
- Jordan, home to several biblical sites, grants Christians a comparatively high level of freedom.
- Jordan struck sites in Syria on Monday in apparent retaliation for the church shooting. The Jordan Armed Forces reported that its air strikes “destroyed several terrorist positions,” and Syrian authorities said seven people, including three children and a woman, were killed. Jordan claims it killed over 20 Islamic State terrorists.
In Ethiopia, 60 Christians were massacred and 20 houses were reportedly burned in the region of Oromia on Saturday. Oromia is a predominantly Muslim region, but local authorities are blaming Tsimdo, an alliance of various ethnic rebel groups throughout Ethiopia.
- Ethiopia, one of the first countries to convert to traditional Christianity, is majority Christian but has suffered severe unrest in recent days.
Daniel 11:40 is a prophecy for “the time of the end” that describes two blocs clashing over control of the Middle East and Africa. As Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry elaborates in his free booklet The King of the South, this is a prophecy of religious war between radical Islam and Catholic Europe.
- A significant reason Catholic nations will send forces into the Middle East is to protect Christian heritage from jihadist onslaught.
Expect anti-Christian attacks like the ones from the past week to cause greater global outrage—until an outside power steps in with even greater deadly force.

Russia transferred advanced submarine tech to China: Russian authorities have transferred materials and technical documents related to the development and testing of submarines to China, the Center for Advanced Defense Studies stated in an October 22 report. The transfers occurred from August 2015 through at least April 2023 and included materials covering propulsion technologies, hull design, noise reduction, weapons management systems and automated command. Russia and China are building an alliance that biblical prophecy says will transform the world.
Europe is in an “era of darkness,” Finnish President Alexander Stubb said in his address to the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, yesterday. This is as the U.S. and China compete and Europe faces threats from Russia, which will cause it to make drastic changes—and enter a new dark age.
Hundreds of ballots found on Skid Row: At a homeless shelter in the infamous Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles, hundreds of ballots were found piled in an open hallway, the California Post reported yesterday. The latest discovery is part of a bigger investigation into thousands of voter registrations tied to homeless shelters and service providers. One of the interviewed women said people were paid to fill out and sign voter registration forms. The ongoing, undeterred manipulation of U.S. elections deprives citizens of their only means of controlling their government.
