Britain’s special forces just learned their own surveillance drones were spying on them—for China.

The Special Boat Service (sbs) uses Kraken K3 Scout drone boats for reconnaissance. The Telegraph revealed this week that cameras aboard those drones—provided through a third-party supplier—were quietly transmitting signals to an IP address inside China.

• The Ministry of Defense says no sensitive data was taken. Even if true, that misses the point.

For years, officials warned that Chinese-made parts embedded in Western systems were a theoretical vulnerability. Now it is established fact—inside its own special forces headquarters.

• Alicia Kearns, the shadow security minister, said, “When cameras built on Chinese parts are found recording our special forces—their faces, training and operations—we should not be surprised, we should be furious that we still haven’t woken up to the realities of the threat we face.”

This was no first offense. London banned Huawei from its 5G network in 2020 due to such espionage concerns. It stripped Hikvision and Dahua cameras from sensitive government sites in 2022. Last month, the sbs banned Chinese-made electric vehicles from its headquarters.

• Reuters has reported that Chinese-made solar inverters, used in about 80 percent of the world’s solar capacity, contain undocumented cellular radios, and that some were remotely disabled from China.

Meanwhile, China is actively, deliberately absorbing its civilian tech sector into its military. Its own five-year plan calls this “military-civil fusion”: Every advance in artificial intelligence, robotics and drone technology is engineered for dual use.

• Chinese researchers have used the AI model DeepSeek, built at a fraction of the cost of its Western competitors, to coordinate drone swarms and analyze battlefield scenarios.
• Companies that use such Chinese-made tools are not only funding these efforts, they could be making themselves vulnerable to Chinese spying or attack.

These are inevitable outcomes in our deeply interconnected world, in which cost and convenience often trump prudence, and dealmaking with dangerous enemies is routine.

• The cheapness that makes Chinese technology irresistible also makes it dangerous. To compete, nations must depend on it; to depend on it, they must trust it. That trust is what authoritarian China can easily exploit.

Western nations have reached for the shiny object of cheap technology, and it turns out it is secretly wired back to Beijing.

Bible prophecy forecast that the modern descendants of ancient Israel would have just such a vulnerability.

• Hosea prophesied of end-time Ephraim—identified in The United States and Britain in Prophecy as Britain today—“he hath mixed himself among the people …. Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not …” (Hosea 7:8-9). Britain has mixed itself with a foreign power for the sake of convenience, and its strength is being devoured.
• God warns in Isaiah 2:6 of today’s English-speaking nations, “they be replenished from the east,” carelessly creating perilous dependencies.

Pakistan Wants to Blot Out the Name of Israel

Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday called for “a united military front” to counter Israel, calling Israel “a threat to the entire Muslim world.” His comments came the day after Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey established a nato-style mutual defense alliance. Asif specified his opinion wouldn’t change even if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lost reelection in October.

Nuclear-armed Pakistan has never recognized Israel’s right to exist. Nuclear-armed Turkey has also threatened Israel’s existence. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has repeatedly said publicly that he believes Jerusalem is rightfully Turkey’s and that he expects war between Turkey and Israel soon.

The new military alliance resembles an end-time bloc of Middle Eastern nations detailed in Psalm 83. It may be the formal start of what will become the “Psalm 83 alliance.”

• The Trumpet has focused on this alliance’s prophesied opposition to Iran. But that isn’t its main purpose. Verses 3-4 read: “They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.”

Virus Made by AI—Hooray?

Scientists at Stanford University and the Arc Institute have produced the first complete, working viral genome designed by generative artificial intelligence. As published in their paper in the journal Science on August 6, they used generative AI to create viral genomes not found in nature, brought the designs to the laboratory, and saw some of them grow inside bacteria.

• Researchers view it as both an amazing scientific breakthrough and a potential stepping-stone to doom.

This is the first time that AI-generated complete functional genomes have been successfully tested and published. The research team hopes this capability will lead to medical breakthroughs, including fighting bacterial infections when antibiotics fail.

What they did: The scientists trained AI models on vast amounts of genomic data and used them to design genomes for bacteriophages, viruses that infect and replicate inside bacteria.

• They chemically manufactured hundreds of thousands of AI-designed dna sequences and introduced them into E. coli, where 16 of the genetic designs produced functional viruses capable of infecting and killing the bacteria.
• Cocktails of AI-generated bacteriophage killed E. coli strains that were resistant to natural bacteriophages.

Beyond the potential benefits, the researchers wrote, this work raised “important biosafety, biocontainment and biosecurity considerations.” In other words, what we just created could be used to develop new biological weapons.

Governments have focused on curtailing “gain of function” research that manipulates natural pathogens, which is what led to the covid-19 pandemic. But AI can now help create viruses from scratch.

• Prof. Tom Inglesby and Dr. Moritz Hanke at the Center for Health Security at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore wrote: “The ability to compose viral genomes using generative AI now exists; the governance to safely steer it does not.”

What don’t we know about it? The researchers strictly excluded genetic data from viruses capable of causing human disease. But inevitably, other researchers, companies, terrorists and governments will not.

Some in Merz’s party believe that the only way to prevent the AfD’s success is by ousting Merz. The Bible reveals that Germany and Europe will ultimately forsake democratic norms altogether in favor of decisive and aggressive authoritarian leadership.

Earthquake in Colombia: A magnitude-7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia yesterday, killing at least 132 people and injuring 570. Video footage shows several collapsed buildings in the city of Pereira and people running for their lives. These and other environmental catastrophes raise the question, Why ‘Natural’ Disasters?

Cambridge hired Islamist professor: Since Jason Arday’s entire résumé was exposed as a fantasy and he was forced to resign from Cambridge University, other professors are coming under scrutiny.
