Europe Arms for War
Europe Arms for War
Good morning!
European leaders are bracing for full-scale war against Russia. Their speeches now routinely warn people of imminent conflict. As nato Secretary General Mark Rutte recently said, “We must be prepared for the scale of war our grandparents or great-grandparents endured.”
President Trump is fueling their fire as he pushes for a Ukraine peace deal with terms favorable to Russia while signaling America’s intention to pull back from the Continent and prodding Europe to tend to its own military and defense needs.
Reporting on this trend yesterday, the Wall Street Journal noted German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s comment this weekend comparing Putin’s strategy in Ukraine to Hitler’s in 1938, seizing the Sudetenland as a prelude to conquering much more of Europe. Merz said, “If Ukraine falls, he won’t stop. Just like the Sudetenland wasn’t enough in 1938.”
The pretext for a massive militarization is stronger than at any time since World War ii, and Europe’s decision-makers are seizing it.
This is one of the most extraordinary and prophetically significant developments in our world today.
Gerald Flurry, the Trumpet’s editor in chief, has warned of this trend since 2004, right after Russia’s legislative election cemented Vladimir Putin’s power, making him “much closer to becoming a dictator.” Europe’s alarm presaged the fulfillment of a prophecy in Daniel 11:44 about “tidings out of the east and out of the north”—that is, from Asia, troubling a European dictator and provoking him to war.
This Asian threat has intensified in the two decades since, and the cauldron of Europe’s martial spirit is at a boil.
The lost generation of white men: Discrimination against white men has destroyed an entire generation, according to a viral article by Jacob Savage in Compact. Most of us have probably heard stories of white men being rejected for jobs purely because of their sex and skin color. This article adds a mountain of statistics to these anecdotes. Here’s just a sample:
- In 2011, 48 percent of lower-level tv writers were white men. Last year it was 12 percent.
- In 2014, 39 percent of tenure-track positions at Harvard were filled by white men. Now it’s 18 percent.
- In 2021, 66 percent of ProPublica’s new hires were women, and 58 percent were nonwhite.
- Since 2020, only 7.7 percent of the Los Angeles Times interns have been white men.
- Of the 70 millennial writers nominated for the National Book Awards in the decade since 2014, only three were white men.
Some push back on these statistics by arguing that many of these industries still have large numbers of white men. Savage shows that it was white men trying to advance their careers after 2014 who were wiped out by diversity, equity and inclusion (dei). “In retrospect, 2014 was the hinge, the year dei became institutionalized across American life,” he wrote. The result:
“If you were 40 in 2014—born in 1974, beginning your career in the late-90s—you were already established. If you were 30 in 2014, you hit the wall.”
White men may still be common in top positions, but the intake of new white men has completely dried up. “The femaleness is striking,” Savage quotes an anonymous “well-known Gen-X reporter with impeccable liberal bona fides: ‘It’s like, wow, where have the guys gone?’” The Gen-X reporter continued:
“Newsrooms were center-left places in 2005. Now they’re incredibly left places. … I imagine one reason newsrooms have gotten more explicitly lefty is that you have white guys and white women adopting a kind of protective coloration, allyship mindset, to get through the door.”
“I always thought I was an effeminate nerd growing up … but my way of expressing myself now puts me on the most masculine end of men in media.”
It’s not just newsrooms. White men are still in the majority in Harvard Arts and Sciences faculty, but that’s because of people who received tenure before dei. If you look at those who are not yet tenured professors but are on track to be, the proportion of white men collapsed from 49 percent in 2014 to 27 percent last year. The only new hires unaffected are white Europeans, presumably because foreign nationals are not counted as white in government education statistics.
It’s similar in the tech industry. “For a lot of guys in their mid-30s, around 2017–2018, it was a quite dramatic shift,” Savage quotes a journalist in a related industry saying. “They’re all like, whoa, suddenly every door is closed, and I am just not going to move ahead at this company at all. Because it’s been lightly and sometimes not-so-lightly communicated to me that there’s just no way the job I want is going to be given to a white guy.”
Savage shows the human cost of all this wasted potential. Young men give up on their dream careers or struggle to establish themselves and move forward with marriage and family. It’s also come at a great cost to society. As Savage asks:
“Is the media more trusted now than a decade ago? Is Hollywood making better films and television? Is academia more respected? Have these institutions become stronger since they systematically excluded an entire cohort—or did abandoning meritocracy accelerate their decline?”
The Bible reveals that this attack on men is a curse. Isaiah 3:12 states: “As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” We’ve inflicted this curse on ourselves by violating clear, logical, biblical principles. In Exodus 23, God tells judges not to “pervert the justice due to your poor in his suit”—“nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his suit” (verses 6, 3; Revised Standard Version). Discrimination against a marginalized group is wrong. But so is so-called positive discrimination, bending justice in their favor. Modern society has hurt millions by breaking what should be an obvious, commonsense law.
Sure enough, the Mar-a-Lago raid was political: Water is wet, the sky is blue, and the Mar-a-Lago raid was political. Newly declassified documents reviewed by Fox News Digital reveal what most people already knew: The fbi raid on President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in 2022 was a political attack. E-mails show fbi officials were concerned about a lack of probable cause to execute the search warrant on Trump’s home, but they proceeded with the raid under pressure from Joe Biden’s Justice Department.
The fbi failed to present probable cause that a crime had been committed, but it told a Florida judge that Trump might have violated the Espionage Act and thereby obtained a warrant to seize “any government and/or presidential records made” during his first presidential term.
- One fbi official wrote to another that the Washington Field Office “has been drafting a search warrant affidavit related to these potential boxes, but has some concerns that the information is single-source, has not been corroborated, and may be dated. The Department of Justice Counterintelligence and Export Control Section opines, however, that the [search warrants] meet the probable cause standard. Even as we continue down the path towards a search warrant, [Washington Field Office] believes that a reasonable conversation with the former president’s attorney (stating that the fbi and doj are readying a search warrant, and have developed information that there are more documents at Mar-a-Lago) ought not to be discounted.”
- In other words, probable cause for a raid was lacking, so the Washington Field Office suggested contacting Trump’s attorney for a “reasonable conversation” about documents at Mar-a-Lago. The Justice Department overruled this suggestion and authorized the raid, including potential use of deadly force, purely to portray Donald Trump as a dangerous criminal.
As Trumpet executive editor Stephen Flurry wrote after the raid, “America’s Founding Fathers devised an elaborate system of checks and balances to limit the power of any one individual, or even one branch of government—and to keep most of the power over the citizens’ lives in the citizens’ hands. Now their grand experiment in government is failing. Radical Democrats are circumventing and destroying these checks and balances with impunity through unelected ‘deep state’ bureaucrats. The nation has moved into a dangerous new era where the only constraints on presidential power are no longer constitutional but merely political.”

Germany forces EU turn on electric vehicles: Yesterday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said a “clear signal” from the German government caused the EU to shelve plans to ban the internal combustion engine by 2035. German and European vehicle manufacturers are not ready to transition to electric vehicles, and Chinese electric cars threaten to destroy the entire business model. The European Commission is instead calling for a 90 percent reduction in emissions compared to 2021. “More openness to technology and more flexibility are the right steps to take in order to better align climate targets, market realities, businesses and jobs,” Merz said. This is another clear signal that Germany rules the EU.
European Parliament tightens migration policy: Germany and other EU countries want to make it easier to deport migrants to countries where they have never lived and to outsource asylum procedures to non-EU countries. Today, the conservative European People’s Party (epp) in the European Parliament voted in favor of the proposal put forward by the European Commission. The leader of the Greens in the European Parliament, Erik Marquardt, accused the epp of working with “right-wing extremists, climate deniers and Putin lobbyists” to pass the vote. Radical-leftist policies are finally prompting a European conservative backlash—but how far to the opposite extreme will they go?
Trump blockades Venezuelan oil: Last night, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers going into, and out of, Venezuela.” Due to the nation’s support of terrorism and the drug trade, he said, “the Venezuelan regime has been designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization.” Based on Bible prophecy, the Trumpet projects where this attempt at regime change could lead.
