Appeals court upholds disqualification of Trump-appointed DA

On Monday, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court decision disqualifying Alina Habba from serving as U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey. Habba is a former personal lawyer to President Donald Trump. The 32-page ruling stated that the president did not obtain “advice and consent” from the Senate as specified by the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, so Habba cannot serve in a permanent capacity as a district attorney.
