Syria reopens its London embassy
Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani presided over a flag-raising ceremony on Friday. The embassy closed 14 years ago amid the Syrian civil war as nations isolated the regime of former President Bashar Assad. Syria’s new government under Ahmed al-Sharaa has connections with the al Qaeda terrorist group, but Britain, the U.S. and other Western countries are reopening relations. As Stephen Flurry wrote last week, such trust in a terrorist regime is dangerously naive.
