Poland begins ‘largest defense training’

The “largest defense training in Polish history” will begin this month, Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced yesterday. He remarked, “We are living in the most dangerous times since World War ii. A war is raging beyond our borders; there are acts of sabotage in the Baltic Sea and battles in cyberspace.” The “Always Prepared” program is open to all Polish citizens, from primary school children to retirees, and is part of a broader plan to train 100,000 people by the end of the year and 400,000 by the end of next year. The course includes digital security, medical and survival training. As Russia continues its war on Ukraine and Poland reacts with drastic increases in military spending and national preparedness, another and even more significant trend is taking place: the prophesied rise of a European military superpower.
