President Trump Orders Military to Take On Drug Cartels

President Donald Trump is ordering the United States military to use force against the violent Latin American drug cartels smuggling contraband, drugs and slaves into the nation.

The New York Times reported August 8 that Trump’s order gives the U.S. military authority to directly engage the eight cartels he officially labeled terrorist organizations on February 20. This announcement comes a day after Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that a reward for the arrest of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro had doubled.

Turf war: An anonymous source close to the White House told the New York Post: “The president is determined to not just dismantle—but completely destroy—Maduro’s Cartel de Los Soles and obliterate their operations in the Western Hemisphere.”

Toward this end, the anti-cartel effort is being coordinated between the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Treasury. This is a government-wide effort against crime.

Border wall: President Trump’s efforts to crack down on crime are part of a resurgence after the bitter affliction America suffered under Barack Obama and Joe Biden (2 Kings 14:26-27). Yet this resurgence will only be temporary if the American people keep rebelling against God’s laws.

A prophecy in Deuteronomy 28 warns that if the nations of Israel forsake His laws, “The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand …. And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the Lord thy God hath given thee” (verses 49, 52).
