Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill,’ Fatwa Against Trump and Netanyahu, U.S. Ends Sanctions on Syria

By Richard Palmer • July 1, 2025

Happy Canada Day, to all our Canadian readers! Our main story today comes from one of our most prolific Canadian contributors, Abraham Blondeau, reflecting on what Canadians can take pride in.

President Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill is back as the Senate votes on amendments. They’ve been going for over 24 hours and hope to have a final vote today or tomorrow. Then it has to go back to the House of Representatives to reconcile the Senate’s amendments. President Donald Trump wants the bill passed by July 4, which requires an aggressive schedule.

The bill still does nothing to solve America’s catastrophic debt problem. “It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country—the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Elon Musk posted on X. He said that Congressmen who vote in favor of the bill “will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.” He also said, “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.”

Meanwhile, President Trump is trying to make it cheaper for the government to borrow money by pressuring Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. He wrote a letter urging him to lower interest rates “by a lot.” Lowering interest rates would bring down the amount the U.S. pays to borrow money, but it would only feed the addiction. It could also prompt higher inflation.

America’s deadly debt addiction continues. “As a nation, we have dug ourselves into a pit from which we will not escape, purely because of selfishness and greed,” wrote Trumpet executive editor Stephen Flurry during President Trump’s first term.

“The reason we have had unprecedented wealth in the first place was because God promised to bless Abraham’s descendants, not only to honor this righteous man, but also in hopes of creating a nation that would serve as a positive example to the world,” he wrote. But instead of being thankful, or even being content to live in the richest nations of all time, we have become corrupt, dishonest, selfish and insatiable. Rather than using our prosperity to give, we have turned inward and continue to seek to get.” Read more in his article “The King of Debt.”

Muslims should murder President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, according to a fatwa issued by Iranian Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi. He called on Muslims around the world to “make these enemies regret their words and mistakes.” Shirazi declared each leader a mohareb, or one who wages war on God. A similar fatwa led to the 2022 stabbing of novelist Salman Rushdie.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has already been caught trying to assassinate President Trump. An Iran-backed group has also threatened to release e-mails they hacked from President Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

Iran is cracking down on dissidents as the regime cements its hold on the country after the 12-day war with Israel. Israel and the U.S. encouraged regime change, and the regime is striking back, arresting hundreds and executing dozens. Six have been hung, accused of spying for Israel. “Like a wounded animal, the Islamic republic is going after every perceived threat in the country with deadly force,” said Hadi Ghaemi of the Center for Human Rights in Iran, based in New York.

Don’t expect Iran’s pushy regime to go anywhere in the long term. It may quiet down a bit as it licks its wounds, but Bible prophecy says it will keep striking out at Jerusalem. Watch for our upcoming Trumpet issue to learn more.

The U.S. will end sanctions on Syria, President Trump declared in a new executive order. According to the fact sheet, the program:

  • Directs Secretary of State Marco Rubio to review the Foreign Terrorist Organization designation of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, which is the al Qaeda affiliate that became the Syrian government after the Assad regime fell in December
  • Directs Rubio to review Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism
  • Allows export restrictions on certain goods and types of assistance to be relaxed

Meanwhile, Reuters published further evidence that the government helped massacre the previously ruling Alawite minority in March. Our In Brief has more on why trusting this regime is dangerous.

IN OTHER NEWS

Russia launched its largest aerial attack on Ukraine since the start of its full-scale war on Sunday, striking civilian infrastructure across the country, killing two people and wounding at least 12. Our In Brief has more details.

Not proud to be American: A record-low number of U.S. citizens are proud to be American, according to a new Gallup poll data published Monday. America’s “pride in its power” has been broken in a very literal way.
