Those Proud to Be American Drops to Record Low

A record-low number of United States citizens are proud to be American, according to new Gallup poll data published Monday.

The poll, conducted from June 2 to June 19, found:

  • 58 percent of American adults say they are “extremely” (41 percent) or “very” (17 percent) proud to be American, nine percentage points lower than last year.
  • National pride among Republican voters rose, but this was offset by low results among Democrats and independents.

Broken pride: President Donald Trump and his administration have devoted considerable resources to bolstering American pride. Efforts have included a strong focus on military recruitment and promoting American values in schools.

However, these efforts will not bring long-term solutions to declining patriotism. In Leviticus 26, God warned that if Americans refused to turn to Him, He would break the pride in their power.

Only if the people of the U.S. obey God will He be able to bless the nation and restore the pride in its power.
