Storms Kill 28 in South, Midwest U.S.
At least 28 people were killed and dozens injured as a result of storms and tornadoes striking Kentucky, Missouri and Virginia on Friday and Saturday.
- 19 people were killed in Kentucky.
- 7 in Missouri.
- 2 in Virginia.
- Dozens of injuries were also reported, with at least 10 individuals in critical condition.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said most of the destruction in his state was caused by a tornado that touched down at EF3 strength on Saturday morning.
“We have lost 19 people to this weather event,” Beshear posted on X, “each one a child of God who will be missed by their families. Please keep praying for them, the 10 individuals being treated at UK Hospital and for everyone affected by these storms.”
“I have never personally witnessed what I’ve witnessed here tonight,” Mayor Randall Weddle, of London, Kentucky, told wkyt-tv on Sunday.
