The Netherlands Calls for EU to Review Trade Deal With Israel
Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp claimed Wednesday that Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid into Gaza violates international humanitarian law and means the European Union must rethink its trade deal and broader ties with Israel.
Line in the sand: “We’ve drawn our line in the sand because the situation in Gaza Strip is dismal. It’s a catastrophic humanitarian situation,” Veldkamp said.
In early March, Israel cut off all humanitarian aid entering Gaza. The decision has been met with vocal condemnation from nations and organizations around the world.
But the reality of the situation in Gaza has been thoroughly documented: There was never a famine, and Israel has gone to extraordinary lengths to minimize civilian casualties.
Taking a stand: Israel is growing bolder in its plan to capture Gaza and end the war.
- Israel’s security cabinet unanimously approved a broadened offensive into the Gaza Strip on May 6, which could see it take control of the entire area.
- In a speech on May 1, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that Israel’s “supreme goal” in the war is to destroy Hamas, not to return the hostages.
Betrayal: The Bible prophesies that Europe will eventually betray the Jewish state, yet Israel continues to naively trust Europe. Its increasing pressure on Israel to capitulate to Hamas is a foreshadow of a much graver double cross yet to occur.
