Young Girl Stabbed in Leicester Square
An 11-year-old girl was stabbed while walking through Leicester Square with her mother late yesterday morning.
Desmond, a witness, recalled when he first set eyes on the attacker:
When I first noticed him around 10 a.m., I saw him standing there outside the M&M store, and he was roaming around talking to himself. He looked like a kind of homeless guy. That’s why he got my attention. … He was standing there looking around for a long time. So you can understand that his mental stability appeared questionable.
Desmond later heard screams and turned to see the same man stabbing a girl while holding her in a headlock. A security guard also heard the screams and leaped into action.
I jumped on him, held the hand in which he was [carrying] a knife, and just put him down on the floor, and just held him and took the knife away from him. … I just saw a kid getting stabbed, and I just tried to save her. It’s my duty to just save them.
—Abdullah, security guard
The mother was uninjured. Her daughter sustains serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
At 11:34 a.m., police were called to the scene where they arrested the 32-year-old homeless attacker, Ioan Pintaru. He has been charged with attempted murder.
Evil influences: After the Southport stabbing of three girls two weeks ago, England is on edge. These horrific attacks on little children bring to light the dark influences plaguing our nations.
