Biden Protects the ‘Deep State’

The United States’ Biden administration finished plans to restrict a president’s ability to fire federal employees on Thursday. The scheme is aimed at thwarting Donald Trump, should he take office next year, by:

• Making it harder for him to fire workers put in place by Joe Biden and Barack Obama
• Slowing his goal of purging the “deep state” from Washington, allowing unelected bureaucrats to retard his plans
• Making the firing of underperforming employees too time-consuming

Details: America’s civil service distinguishes between those who work political jobs and nonpolitical jobs (which are protected). If a future president deems one of the protected jobs is political, Biden’s reform makes it difficult to change the job’s category. If an employee objects to the job status change, he can appeal to the Merit Systems Protection Board.

The Biden administration is working to finalize this change as quickly as possible to prevent it from being reversed.
