Leaked Files: Ukraine War Expected to Last Until 2024

The leaked Pentagon files reveal the United States Defense Intelligence Agency’s bleak assessment of the Ukraine War: Neither side is expected to win or negotiate, but they see it going in Russia’s favor. The dia predicts the conflict will last until at least 2024 and that Ukraine will be unable to make any advances in reclaiming lost territory.

Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested the man they suspect of leaking the documents: Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old U.S. air national guardsman.

Bleak picture: The analysis anticipates: “Negotiations to end the conflict are unlikely during 2023 in all considered scenarios.” The dia believes territorial gains will be hindered due to “insufficient troops and supplies for effective operations.” It predicts leadership changes in Ukraine’s government becoming “more likely” due to internal frustration with war response. It doesn’t specify whether those are political or military leaders.

A long war favors Russia: When Russian President Vladimir Putin first invaded Ukraine, it was clear he thought it would be a quick war. He admitted nine months into the operation that it was taking longer than expected. But he’s prepared to see it out in the long run.

The longer the conflict draws out, the more disinterested the West becomes. As America deals with its own internal division, long-term aid to Ukraine becomes more unlikely. In response to a Fox News survey of 2024 Republican candidates, President Donald Trump said he opposed sending aid to Ukraine.

Political commentator Wolfgang Münchau explained the blow this would have on the rest of Europe, stating, “The Europeans would struggle to fill the gap in military and financial aid to Ukraine.”

Complacency: As with the Chinese-balloon incident in February, Joe Biden tried to claim that the leak of these classified documents was no big deal. He made his first comments on the leaks yesterday, stating, “There’s nothing contemporaneous that I’m aware of that is of great consequence.” Biden said the documents don’t matter because they were outdated. That holds no water. Nothing has changed in Ukraine in the past couple of months since the documents were written that would cause the dia to alter its predictions.

Will the crisis in Ukraine really drag out for as long as the U.S. anticipates? Amid the many predictions out there, the only sure ones are founded on Bible prophecy.
