The scandals and infighting plaguing America’s government are one of the most prophetically significant developments in our world right now. Our July 2018 Trumpet issue, which we sent to the printers last week and is now available online, will give you the context you need in order to understand why.

The issue begins with editor in chief Gerald Flurry’s personal, “A Warning to America From Our Greatest Past Presidents.” The reason for so many of the nation’s problems today traces back to something that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln warned about—a spiritual cause that most people today overlook. We then have two articles and an infographic that dig more into the details of the war going on within the U.S. government. Stephen Flurry examines the multiple attacks on the president and the Constitution, and then explains the dangerous truth that “The U.S. Government Is at War With Itself.” Andrew Miiller then digs into the question: “Is the ‘Deep State’ Real?” “Whether we call it the deep state or something else, it is undeniable that Washington has a deeply embedded bureaucracy that has existed for decades,” he writes. “Many of these bureaucrats staunchly oppose President Trump and his inner circle. The problems this reality creates represent an enormous distortion of how America’s Founding Fathers established the government.” The infographic for this issue, “America’s Deep State,” shows the sheer magnitude of the number of unelected bureaucrats in government agencies today.

You can read these articles and more online. But we would love to send you a free copy of the magazine. Becoming a Trumpet subscriber comes with absolutely no cost or obligation—your subscription has already been paid for by others who are enthusiastic about the magazine and want to share it with you.

If you’ve been receiving these Trumpet Brief e-mails for a while, you undoubtedly know the Trumpet headquarters is putting on another archaeological exhibit. “Come Meet Isaiah and King Hezekiah!” gives information on the upcoming exhibit, opening June 10, which will showcase archaeological evidence of these two great biblical figures and the time period in which they lived.

The enthusiasm for a new technology is growing. Some even claim it can “save the planet” and maybe even “perform miracles.” Richard Palmer examines this “miracle-working” financial technology, “fintech,” and asks if this is “The Finance of the Future?” He delves into the basics of blockchain in his sidebar “Blockchain 101 10110.”

Why is more than 500,000 square miles of the United States, 14 percent of its land area, protected wilderness? It began in 1867. Jeremiah Jacques takes us through the history of how “An Injury, a Camping Trip and a Better United States” resulted in a nation with millions of acres preserved to give all who enjoy them a better understanding of God’s creative power and might.

Last month I interviewed the former editor in chief of Turkey’s largest newspaper—he is now an Uber driver in America. That interview is the basis for my article “Exiled Journalist: Beware Turkey’s Authoritarian Shift.” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s dictatorial moves are turning his country from a democratic, free society to authoritarianism. Zaman’s former editor misses his country and knows he is “taking a huge risk by speaking out.” But he says, “I must do that.”

In our Principles of Living article, “Young and Old, Together,” I consider God’s instruction for children to be taught by not only parents, but grandparents. “Rich intergenerational relationships … are one of the most satisfying blessings a God-centered family life has to offer!” And in “What More Can You Do?”, Stephen Flurry shows how we each can play a part in supporting God’s work. You can be part of this work, he writes. “God needs you.” To get started, read our article “How to Pray” and request our free book by the same name here.
